Fortnite - Action Figures
Almost instantaneously, Fortnite became a worldwide gaming sensation. It influenced cultural trends outside of the gaming community, inspiring TikTok dances and Jeopardy! trivia. From an outside perspective, the game is hard to pin down because it does so many things at once. From deep character customization to single-player survival to all-out battle royale, the series successfully mixes unlikely genres. The immense library of character skins make it nearly impossible to settle on a favorite. Here are four figures of some of the most popular skins in Fortnite: “Nendoroid Fortnite Skull Trooper,” “Pop! Games: Fortnite Merry Marauder,” “Nendoroid Fortnite Tomato Head,” and “Pop! Games: Fortnite Black Knight.”
Nendoroid Fortnite Skull Trooper Figure
The rare, early game release Skull Trooper now comes in chibi size in Good Smile Company’s Nendoroid line. The body of the Nendoroid itself is sculpted in its traditional form, giving it the appearance of wearing the skin like in the games. His skeletal form is carefully painting on the front and backside of the figure. However, the breastbone is obscured by his silver dog tags. Weapons and survival tools include a taped and crooked Reaper Pickaxe and Pump Shotgun. The figure also includes a Drift Board Skull Trooper can ride.

Pop! Games: Fortnite Merry Marauder Figure
The Merry Marauder looks equally as menacing in Pop! Games figure form as he does as a skin. His simple white round eyes, red-lined white frown, and angry blue eyebrows are a perfect fit with the Funko Pop! style. The wavy white lines on his arms and legs represent the frosting holding his damaged limbs in place. This white frosting differs slightly from the detail on his face. This distinguishes it as an intended feature on the gingerbread man’s original design before the war. While his in-game skin may be holiday exclusive, this figure will stay grumpy all year.

Nendoroid Fortnite Tomato Head Figure
Tomato Head gets a slightly less threatening appearance in this Nendoroid figure. The perfectly rounded tomato head is just a bit wider than traditional Nendoroid standards. His slanted cartoon eyes, brown handlebar mustache, and green leafy tomato top are faithfully recreated. Painting on his outfit depicts a slice of pepperoni pizza and a small brown patch stitched on his pants. Accessories include a Rocket Launcher, a launched rocket with an angry face, and a shiny, unused Axeroni Pickaxe.

Pop! Games: Fortnite Black Knight Figure
The extremely popular Black Knight Fortnite skin now comes equipped to a chibi figure. The Funko Pop! Games figure wears a surprisingly detailed knight’s helmet in charcoal black. His trademark glowing red eyes, however, are the classic Funko round dots behind the mask. The chainmail detail on the sleeves are well-textured but are still sculpted enough to show off his tiny muscles.

Fortnite Series Story
Fortnite takes place on a modern-day Earth covered by a giant storm. This storm wiped out 98% of the population and led to the appearance of Husks, zombie-like creatures going after the survivors. In Save the World, players construct Storm Shields to create survivor bases, venturing out in the storm for supplies and attempts at expansion. It features tower-based defense, shooter, and sandbox-style creation-based gameplay elements. Battle Royale features a traditional battle royale style format where single players can play solo or in small teams in battles with up to 100 hundred players. Players can also destroy nearly anything in the environment to harvest for materials and craft items. Fortnite Creative expands on the game’s crafting elements. Players can create items and structures on a private island and share these creations over online communication.
Fortnite Series Development
Epic Jam announced Fortnite in 2011 at the Spike Video Game Awards before production even began. The idea came out of an internal company game creation competition, intended to switch up the company’s lineup. Early development faced challenges from challenges in simultaneously developing a new system engine and Epic’s involvement with Tencent. In July 2017 Fortnite was released as an early access paid game. Earlier that year, seeing the success of battle royale style online games, Epic developed the second version, Battle Royale, in two months. The original game received the retconned secondary name Save the World for distinction. Battle Royale’s revolutionary tactic was its release as a free game supported by microtransactions. It drew 10 million players in its first week. Its immense popularity spurred the phenomenon of Fortnite dances, references in other media, and tons of crossover merchandise.
