Frieza Dragon Ball Z - Figures
Even anime fans growing up in the 1990s and early 2000s who never watched Dragon Ball will recognize Frieza. Son Goku and Frieza’s iconic battle, which led to the series’ revolutionary Super Saiyan ability, is one of the biggest fights of the shonen genre. Frieza himself has become an icon of evil villains. His design is unsettling and his goal is simple: achieve power and kill those who stand in his way. Later trends in shonen tended toward more complex or morally gray antagonists. However, Frieza’s simplicity is what made him so enduring. In a way, he appears to have achieved his quest for eternal life. His form is further immortalized by collectible figures, though most sets lead to his inevitable defeat. The best Frieza figures available for 2021 are “Chibi Masters Frieza Final Form,” “Dragon Ball Super Frieza Z Battle Figure,” and “Dragon Ball Z G x Materia Frieza.”
Dragon Ball Frieza Final Form (Chibi Masters) Figure
Frieza’s Chibi Masters figure from Bandai may show his menacing final form but in appropriately tiny proportions. His unnerving smirk reminds fans of his truly vicious personality, however tiny his finely detailed purple lips may be. He stands with his palms up and arms at his side, one leg crossed in front of the other. His entire demeanor oozes smug confidence befitting of a genocidal space emperor. Even at three inches tall, his defined muscles are well scaled to the form, giving him a beefy physique. Frieza still looks threatening enough, but in a hilariously small way that would suit any fan of the series.

Dragon Ball Super Frieza Z Battle Figure
For fans of highly detailed muscular fighter figures, Banpresto’s Frieza Z Battle figure is a perfect choice. Frieza is in a dynamic attack pose, rushing forward with his fist clenched as seen in Dragon Ball Super. The large muscles from Frieza’s powered up form feature various carving details. His chest and arms are covered in enlarged veins while deep contours show the intense definition of his quads and core. The tendons in his hands and feet also remind fans of his mutant status. Overall the figure is almost grotesque, but fittingly so as Frieza is a villain. While he looks best paired with the equally intense Goku figure, Frieza has a strong presence on his own.

Dragon Ball Z G x Materia Frieza Figure
In the upcoming G x Materia series Frieza figure shows him in his most natural power-crazed state. Frieza floats in the air, supported by a stand, with one arm in front of him and the other above his head. He charges up his signature move, the Death Ball, ready to unleash on his unfortunate opponent. The Death Ball itself is made of a clear purple plastic with metallic flakes to denote an aether-like effect. His expression is appropriately wild, twisted in a maniacal grin reflecting his love of pain and destruction. The carving and posing of the figure together throw fantastic shadows giving off a dramatic aura. Overall, the figure captures Frieza as he was when introduced in the series: a dangerous, crazed killer.

About Frieza
Frieza is the Emperor of Universe 7, controlling nearly 70% of the Universe’s planets, and the catalyst antagonist for the entire series. Frieza had Saiyans under his control yet he feared their power if they ever betrayed him. As a result, he destroyed the planet, which led to Goku’s arrival on Earth. At his core, Frieza is a cruel and truly evil being who loves pain, destruction and ruling over others. He enters the series on a search for Namek’s dragon balls in order to gain eternal life. Frieza is incredibly powerful, using only a percentage of his power in most fights. His fight with Goku led to the realization of his greatest fear: the Super Saiyan form. While a temporary ally in the Tournament of Power, Frieza remains one of the franchise’s most iconic villains.
Other Important Dragon Ball Characters
Son Goku, born as Kakarot, is the main series protagonist in the Dragon Ball franchise. Goku survived the destruction of Planet Vegeta when his parents sent him to Earth. Upon arrival, the infant suffered a head injury losing all memory. He was found by his adoptive grandfather, Gohan, and given the name Goku. The series begins with Goku searching for Earth’s dragon balls and over time he becomes Earth’s greatest protector. He is largely naive, easy-going, and fun-loving, unlike most Saiyans.
Frost is the emperor of Universe 6 and is largely referred to as that universe’s Frieza. In the Tournament of Power, Frost is enamored with Frieza’s power. Frieza is unimpressed with Frost and considers him an amateur. Frost attempts to make a deal with his counterpart and initially, Frieza accepts. However, Frieza betrays Frost, telling him not to trust anyone, and eliminates him from the Tournament.
