Senku Ishigami Dr. Stone - Figures
The Dr. Stone series began as a manga written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump beginning in March 2017. Its unique concept of trying to rebuild advanced society from the ground up caught the attention of many readers, which eventually resulted in the series receiving an anime adaptation in 2019. This adaptation was produced by studio 8PAN and directed by Shinya Iino. With the wide success of the Dr. Stone series as a whole, a number of collectible figures have been produced by several manufacturers. This is especially true of the protagonist, Senku Ishigami. Out of the handful of figures that are available on the market, some of the most popular include the “Pop Up Parade Dr. Stone Senku Ishigami”, the “Nendoroid Dr. Senku Ishigami”, and the “Dr. Stone Figure of Stone Senku Ishigami”.
Pop Up Parade Dr. Stone Senku Ishigami Figure
This figure of Senku has him standing confidently with his arms crossed in front of his chest. In one hand, he wields a stone axe as he holds several corked bottles in the other. Senku wears crudely stitched, short-sleeved clothing, and has a bag strapped around his waist. A smaller pouch also hangs at his side along the simple belt tied around his clothing. Particular attention was given to Senku’s hair - one of his most distinctive features. Senku’s long hair stands straight up, except for two strands that fall down over his face. The tips of his hair are a dark shade of green but get progressively lighter toward his head.

Nendoroid Dr. Stone Senku Ishigami Figure
This figure from the popular Nendoroid line takes Senku’s design and adds a cuter, super-deformed twist to it. Many details of Senku’s original appearance remain, like his green hair, red eyes, and hand-crafted clothing. Unlike the previous figure, however, this rendition of Senku is articulated, allowing users to recreate iconic poses from the series. Like other Nendoroid figures, this item also includes extra parts, like facial expression plates, a jar of Revival Fluid, and a glass beaker.

Dr. Stone Figure of Stone World Senku Ishigami Figure
This figure from Banpresto recreates Senku’s pose from one of the key visuals of the anime adaptation. This pose has Senku glaring with a confident expression as he holds out a glass beaker filled with a blue liquid. Despite its cheaper price, this figure still manages to include a fair amount of detail, like the multiple layers that make up his clothing and the strands that make up his hair. For fans that want a figure of Senku that is easier on the wallet, this item would make a wonderful addition to one’s collection.

About Senku Ishigami
Senku Ishigami is the main protagonist of Dr. Stone and acts as a catalyst for the progression of humanity after nearly every person on Earth was petrified thousands of years ago.
Background
Before the petrification of humanity, Senku grew up under the wing of his adoptive father, Byakuya Ishigami. From a young age, Senku expressed an incredible thirst for scientific knowledge and had dreams of one day reaching space. Since then, he dedicated much of his time learning and performing experiments that were funded by Byakuya. After the world was enveloped in a bright flash of light, nearly every human was turned into stone, including Senku. He still retained his consciousness, however, and counted every second that passed until he was de-petrified over 3000 years later. With his smarts, Senku sets out to return humanity to its former glory.
Special Abilities and Drawbacks
One of Senku’s most notable traits is his genius-level intellect and extensive knowledge of chemistry, physics, technology, and engineering. This intelligence acts as the cornerstone to much of the progression in the series, as Senku is the only character that recalls or understands the processes used to recreate many of the tools and chemical compounds that he will need to reach the levels of technology that humans once had. Although his intelligence is unmatched, his physical abilities are considerably lacking compared to other characters, causing him to rely on others who have more strength and stamina than he does.
Other Important Dr. Stone Characters
As the main protagonist of Dr. Stone, Senku interacts with many different characters, though two especially important characters are Taiju Oki and Tsukasa Shishio.
Taiju Oki
Taiju Oki is a childhood friend of Senku’s and acts much like a foil to him. While Senku has his intelligence and lacks strength, Taiju excels in strength and stamina but struggles when he needs to use his brain. As such, Senku relies heavily on Taiju, both before and after the world was petrified.
Tsukasa Shishio
Tsukasa Shishio is the main antagonist of the first major saga of the series. After Senku and Taiju create the Revival Fluid to de-petrify people, they are surrounded by a pride of lions and discover Tsukasa’s stone body. The two recognize him from his previous status as a famous mixed-martial arts fighter before everyone was turned into stone. With no options left, the two use the fluid to revive Tsukasa, who promises to protect the duo. Tensions between Senku and Tsukasa quickly rise, however, as Tsukasa has a vastly different ideology than Senku’s. This eventually results in two factions being formed: Senku’s Kingdom of Science, and Tsukasa’s Empire of Might.
