Ninomae Ina'nis - VTuber

Ninomae Ina’nis is a VTuber and a member of Hololive English that primarily speaks English, though she has some Japanese skills that let her do collaborations with her Japanese-speaking seniors. As of April 2021, she has charmed over 900,000 people with her calm, wholesome personality and her beautiful artwork.

Ninomae Ina’nis Background

Ninomae Ina’nis (commonly referred to as “Ina”) is a human girl that acts as a priestess of unnamed Lovecraftian-style entities that are simply referred to as the “Ancient Ones”. While she is exceptionally skilled at creating art, she often plays a variety of different games on her channel.

Ninomae Ina’nis History

Like with the other members of Hololive English, Ina’s first official appearance occurred on September 9th, 2020 with an announcement video that briefly introduced the HoloEN members. Several days later, Ina would make her official YouTube debut on September 13th. By the end of the year, Ina’s channel would reach over 600,000 subscribers, despite only being active for three months. As of April 2021, this number would increase to over 900,000.

Ninomae Ina’nis Physical Description

Ina is a young girl with a slender build that has blue eyes, slightly pointed ears, and long, purple hair that runs down to her knees. Her main priestess outfit includes a purple and orange sleeveless dress, a pair of tall traditional Japanese-style sandals with purple straps, a single white thigh-high sock on her left leg decorated with knotted purple and white rope, and a pair of purple gloves. This dress also has a pair of white cloth wings that wrap around her waist. Her hair is quite unique as well, as parts of it fade into a pair of squid-like tentacles on either side of her face. The top of her head is also adorned with a pair of cuttlefish-like ears, an orange halo, and a matching headpiece. Although she can choose whether or not to reveal them, Ina can control a cluster of purple and orange tentacles that writhe behind her. The Necronomicon book that gave her these powers can also be seen floating by her side.

Although she currently has no alternate outfits as of April 2021, she revealed a fully animated chibi version of her character with the rest of Hololive English on April Fool’s Day 2021. This model was designed by Walfie and includes several different effects and accessories like sunglasses and a crowbar.

Ninomae Ina’nis Personality

Ina may be the servant of Lovecraftian entities that have sent her to test the sanity of those who interact with her, but she is ironically the most soft-spoken, relaxed, considerate, and level-headed member in all of Hololive English. Her soft voice may cause others to think that she is quite shy and reserved, but Ina can in fact be quite social at times. When she notices that one of her members is feeling down, she always tries to cheer them up whenever she can. Aside from this, Ina is also widely known for her infamous puns, which she enjoys making whenever she tweets and streams.

Associated Company

Hololive Production is a VTuber agency that is owned by Cover Corporation. While many of the VTubers Hololive Production manages primarily speak Japanese, it also has other worldwide branches in the Indonesian and English speaking areas of the world as well. As of April 2021, the English branch of Hololive consists of one group of five members: Ina herself, Gawr Gura (Gauru Gura), Mori Calliope, Takanashi Kiara, and Watson Amelia. That said, applications for the second group of Hololive English have concluded and are being screened.

Notable Series

Although Ina is widely known for her artwork and gesture streams, some of her most popular streams include her playthroughs of games like Hollow Knight and Half-Life 2.

Hollow Knight

This popular Metroidvania game was released in 2017 and eventually made its way through several Hololive members’ channels in early 2021. Ina’s playthrough of Hollow Knight began on February 5th and ended on March 7th. The game is widely known for its difficult boss battles, which proved to be a challenge for Ina at times, though she managed to persevere and eventually complete the main game.

Half-Life 2

Half-Life 2 is a classic first-person shooter game with elements of platforming and puzzles that was developed by Valve and released in 2004. That said, Ina’s streams of this game began on October 24th, 2020, and ended approximately a month later. While her playthrough only took place over the course of four streams, it had a surprising effect on Ina’s character, as during and after she played the game, she would be associated with Gordan Freeman’s iconic glasses and crowbar. This is made clear when her chibi model was revealed, which happened to include a red and grey crowbar that looks very similar to the one that appears in the game.

Other Notable Activities

Aside from her gaming streams, Ina is also a very skilled artist. Nearly every week, Ina hosts gesture drawing streams where she practices anatomy and gives tips for viewers that are interested in learning how to draw. In addition to this, Ina frequently draws other members of Hololive for various special occasions as well. Some examples include Mori Calliope for her birthday, Inugami Korone and Nekomata Okayu for their second anniversary after their debuts, and, of course, herself.
