The Attack on Titan series has a number of video games released on multiple platforms such as PlayStation 3 and 4, XBox One, Nintendo Switch and 3DS. Here is a list of the currently released titles and a brief description.

Attack on Titan (Game)

The Attack on Titan game is the first official game release from the franchise. It also known as Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom in European regions. It is an action hack and slash video game based on the Hajime Isayama's manga series and animated series, Attack on Titan. It was released on February 18, 2016 in Japan. The Western release in North America and Europe was in August, 2016.

It has both a single-player and multiplayer mode. The game features ten characters and only three can be selected. As proceeding through the Story Mode, the player will be able to unlock more characters. Characters include Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Connie, Sasha, Krista, Levi, Zoe, and Erwin.

Production

This game is published by Koei Tecmo and developed by Omega Force. It was first announced at Gamescom.

Attack on Titan 2 (Game)

Attack on Titan 2, also known as A.O.T. 2, is the action hack and slash video game sequel to the first Attack on Titan game. It was released on March 15, 2018 in Japan and on March 20, 2018 worldwide. It has both a single-player and multiplayer mode.

Single-player mode has a Story Mode, Another Mode, and Inferno Mode. On the other hand, multiplayer mode has Annihilation Mode, Co-op Play, and Predator Mode.

  • Attack on Titan 2: Story Mode - The game's story is a continuation from the first two seasons of the anime. The plot moves on from a custom character's point of view. Furthermore, the game contains original stories supervised by Hajime Isayama. In addition, the character's base camp is larger than the first game, and there are more interaction by characters.

  • Attack on Titan 2: Another Mode - Completing the Story Mode unlocks additional characters and features. In this mode, the player can challenge Scout missions as their unlocked characters. There are scenes where the player has different dialogue options and the custom character is able to mingle with teammates between missions. By cooperating with each other well, players can improve their performance in battle.

  • Attack on Titan 2: Inferno Mode - In this mode, the player cannot select the difficulty levels. Titans will be stronger and tougher to battle than the 'Hard' difficulty level.

  • Attack on Titan 2: Annihilation Mode - This is a new online multiplayer mode that contains 4 vs 4 battles. Within the time limit, teams must eliminate Titan groups to earn the highest score. In-game communication is limited to character gestures and preset lines from the manga/anime.

  • Attack on Titan 2: Co-op Play - Players can join friends and worldwide players to play cooperatively in Story Mode or Scout Missions.

  • Attack on Titan 2: Predator Mode - Up to 4 players can take on the role of Titans. The aim of the mode is to eat as many humans as possible.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are compatible on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X with improved visuals. The game is developed by Omega Force and published by KOEI TECMO.

Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains

Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains is a Nintendo 3DS action game based on the Attack on Titan manga and anime series. It is also known as Attack on Titan: Last Wings of Humanity in Japan, and Shingeki no Kyojin: Humanity in Chains in European regions. The game is developed by Spike Chunsoft and originally released on December 5, 2013. The updated version, Attack on Titan: Jinrei Saigo no Tsubasa CHAIN was released on December 4, 2014.

  • Single-player Mode - The player can play as one of the characters of the series, fighting against Titans. In the first version, only Eren, Mikasa and Armin were in the game, but in the updated Chains release (Western releases), Levi and Sasha Blouse are added as DLC.

  • World Mode - In the online coop mode, up to 4 players can play and fight the Titans. It is definitely harder than the single player mode. Players can use their premade character or choose the main heroes from single player and use CPU players to substitute for actual players if necessary. Premade character means, the player can create a character and level up by completing missions. This mode also allows players to play through the scenes in the anime from 5 different character's perspectives. These characters are Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Levi, and Sasha. This mode in the game is fast-paced including a lot of movement such as using ODM (Omni-Directional Movement) This is how the characters move around and attack Titans. Players can also change the ODM Gear to other weapons as well.

Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death

Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death is a visual novel game made for the Nintendo 3DS. It has an original story with an original protagonist. The setting takes place before the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission. The player in the game is a member of the Survey Corps and needs to investigate the world "outside the wall". By using the Omni-Directional Movement gear, the player can reenact the experience, thrill and pleasure of battling with Titans like in the series. The game is also released for Nintendo Switch on March 19, 2018. The numbers are up to 8 players for the Switch version. Escape from Certain Death was developed and published by KOEI TECMO GAMES CO., LTD.

Attack on Titan 2: Mirai no Zahyo

Attack on Titan 2: Mirai no Zahyo is a Nintendo 3DS action game developed by Spike Chunsoft. It was released on November 30, 2017 in Japan. This game follows the story of the second season of the anime. Besides the Story Mode, there is also the World Mode.

  • Story Mode - In this mode, the player can enjoy the continuation from season 2 anime series. Depending on how the story progress, the player can operate characters such as Eren, Levi and Mikasa and experience another story.

  • World Mode - The player can create their own character, which will become a member of the Survey Corps. This mode allows the player to play with friends, up to 4 players including online. It has improved communication features for multiplayer. Moreover, players can also build their own base.
