The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening that took the world by storm in the early 1990s for its satirical take on the average American family. The series would go on to become an international success, which eventually led to many types of merchandise collaborations. One such collaboration happened with Medicom Toy, resulting in the production of BE@BRICK figures like the “BE@RBRICK The Simpsons Homer Simpson 100%” and matching 400% figure.
The Simpsons x BE@RBRICK Collaboration Background
The collaboration between The Simpsons and BE@RBRICK began in 2014 with the release of the original Homer and Bart Simpson BE@RBRICK figures. As of early 2021, four unique figure designs have been released with a fifth planned to be released in June 2021. Most figures created in this collaboration were also made in several different sizes, like BE@RBRICK’s 100%, 400%, and 1000%.
Collaboration Planning and Launch
After the release of the original Homer and Bart figures in 2014, other popular characters from the show received BE@RBRICK figures as well. In December 2016, a Krusty the Clown BE@RBRICK would be released in all three standard BE@RBRICK sizes and was later followed by a figure of Bartman almost a year later. In March 2018, however, Homer would receive a second figure with an updated design. The most recent figure to be announced recreates the Cyclops character from “Treehouse of Horror XXIV”.
BE@RBRICK The Simpsons Homer Simpson 100%
This figure recreates the foolish father of the Simpsons family, Homer Simpson. Although the first figure of Homer was released in 2014, this figure features a new, updated design of the character. That said, Homer still wears the same classic outfit he always does: a white collared shirt, a pair of blue pants, and a pair of dark gray shoes. This figure also has all of the classic characteristics of a BE@RBRICK figure, notably a pair of rounded ears, articulated limbs, and a big, round belly. The latter is a particularly good fit for Homer, as it matches his rotund character design perfectly.

BE@RBRICK The Simpsons Homer Simpson 400%
This figure is much like the previous figure, but much larger. While the 100% figure stands at just under three inches, this 400% figure is eleven inches tall. Aside from the difference in size, however, it is almost identical in design.

About The Simpsons
The Simpsons is an animated sitcom created by Matt Groening that first aired as a series of shorts in 1987 before receiving its own TV series in 1989. The idea of The Simpsons stemmed from a satirical and exaggerated portrayal of the average American family. Many sitcoms at the time often centered around perfect, happy families that had few legitimate worries in the world. Groening set out to turn this idea of the “perfect” American family on its head, resulting in the comedically dysfunctional Simpson family.
About Homer Simpson
Homer Simpson is the father of the Simpson family and is known for his lazy personality, love of beer and food, and his short temper. He works in the local nuclear power plant, where he acts as the safety inspector, despite being unbelievably underqualified for such a position. Although he is quick to anger and often resorts to violence, especially when it comes to his son, Bart, Homer genuinely loves his family and is not afraid to make sacrifices for their sake.

One other notable aspect of The Simpsons is its incredibly large cast of characters. That said, the members of the Simpsons family are by far the most prominent recurring characters.
Bart Simpson
Bart is the eldest child of the Simpson family and is known for his rebellious and mischievous personality. Although the other members of the Simpson family are named after the members of Groening’s family, Bart was supposed to be named after Groening himself but opted to name him “Bart” -- an anagram of the word “brat”. His attitude often gets him into trouble at school and with his father.
Lisa Simpson
Lisa, when compared to her older brother Bart, is much more empathetic, kind-hearted, and smart. At times, her intelligence might seem more like a curse than a boon, as her smarts often alienate her from the other members of her family, particularly with Bart and Homer. Furthermore, despite her high intelligence, Lisa still struggles with common, mundane problems that every child goes through.
Marge Simpson
Marge is the wife of Homer and the mother of Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Despite her exceedingly unusual hairstyle, Marge is very much a typical doting mother to her children and husband. Most of the time, she takes many issues surrounding her problematic family in stride, opting to accept their flaws rather than reject them. That said, Marge does have her limits, particularly with Homer.
Maggie Simpson
Maggie is the youngest member of the Simpson family and, since characters do not age in The Simpsons, she has been stuck as a baby for many decades. Despite being incredibly young and largely unable to speak, it is often suggested that she is incredibly intelligent, much like her sister Lisa.
