About the Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls are a trademark professional basketball team competing in the NBA. The Bulls represent Chicago in the NBA's Eastern Conference. They first competed in the 1966-1967 season and qualified for that year's playoffs. The Bulls logo, a red, charging bull, has seen little change since the team's inception. Their founder, Dick Klein, wanted a name and logo to reference Chicago's meatpacking industry, similar to the Green Bay Packers. Since their formation, the Bulls have won six Championship Titles, six Conference titles, and nine Division titles.

Dennis Rodman Background

Dennis Rodman is one of the most notorious celebrities to come out of the NBA. He's renowned for his loud appearance and personality as well as his impressive skills as a rebound specialist.

Dennis Rodman: Biography

Dennis Rodman was born in Trenton, New Jersey on May 13, 1961. His short stature and shy demeanor kept him from getting much basketball experience on his high school team. A growth spurt after graduation earned him a spot on the Cooke County College team where he averaged 17.6 points per game. He then transferred to Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he led the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in rebounding two years in a row. The Detroit Pistons drafted Rodman in the second round of the 1986 NBA draft.

After a disappointing 1992-1993 season and difficulties in his personal life, Rodman contemplated suicide. He chose instead to reinvent his image and live his life "the way [he] [wants] to live it and be happy doing it." After this point, Rodman cultivated his famous "bad boy" persona that rivaled his career performance. He engaged in many public antics, such as high-profile relationships with stars like Madonna and stunts like wearing a wedding dress to promote his autobiography. Since the end of his NBA career, Rodman appeared in films, and television shows, often as himself. Recently, he garnered attention through his repeated visits to North Korea and controversial political endorsements.

Dennis Rodman: Career Highlights

During his first few years with the Detroit Pistons, Rodman steadily increased his stats and in-game performance. The Pistons entered the 1987 playoffs during Rodman's first year. They lost to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals in one of the NBA's most grueling set of games. In the 1988-1989 season, Rodman was selected to the All-Defensive Team for the first time in his career. He established himself as a small forward in the 1990 season and 1991 made his mark as a rebounder. Rodman earned his first of seven consecutive rebound crowns for the 1991-1992 season.

In 1993, Rodman demanded a trade and joined the San Antonio Spurs for two seasons. After clashing with the Spurs office and coaches, Rodman joined the Chicago Bulls in the 1995-1996 season. He played alongside Bulls top scorer Michael Jordan and small forward Scottie Pippen. That year, the Bulls played the best regular season at the time and won their first of three consecutive NBA Championship Titles. At the end of 1998, The Bulls began a massive team restructuring with the departure of Jordan, Pippen, and coach Phil Jackson. Rodman played for the LA Lakers for part of the following year and then played his final season for the Dallas Mavericks in the 1999-2000 season.
