OtapediaShirou Emiya Fate/Stay Night - Nendoroid

The Fate series is a multimedia franchise that has grown to be a massive success ever since the original Fate/stay night visual novel released in 2004. That said, even after the release of other incredibly popular projects like Fate/Grand Order and Fate/Zero, Shirou Emiya, the protagonist of Fate/stay night, remains one of the most well-known characters in the Fate series. As the popularity of Fate/stay night and the greater Fate franchise began to grow, many kinds of merchandise based on characters from Fate were produced. Good Smile's Nendoroid line of figures is a particularly popular brand that takes characters from hundreds of different franchises and turns them into cute, chibi-style figures for fans to purchase and collect. Of course, this also includes Shirou with the release of the "Nendoroid Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] Shirou Emiya (Re-run)" figure.

Nendoroid Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] Shirou Emiya (Re-run)

This figure takes Shirou's appearance from Ufotable's anime adaptation of the Unlimited Blade Works route of the original Fate/stay night visual novel. It features Shirou with his iconic red hair and brown eyes along with his classic white and black zip-up jersey, blue slacks, and gray shoes. As with all Nendoroid figures, this figure of Shirou Emiya includes several points of articulation and accessories to help fans recreate their favorite scenes from Unlimited Blade Works. Some examples of the included accessories are face plates to change Shirou's expression from a neutral smile to one of determination or flustered blushing. About Shirou Emiya

Shirou Emiya is the main protagonist of Fate/stay night, the original visual novel that sparked the rest of the Fate series. Aside from being the protagonist, Shirou is also the Master of Saber.

About Shirou Emiya: Background

Shirou is a second-year student who attends Homurahara Academy and is the adopted son of Kiritsugu Emiya, a magus who saved Shirou from a catastrophic fire that took place ten years prior to Fate/stay night. Although Shirou survived the fire, all others involved unfortunately perished, which left Shirou with a great deal of survivor's guilt. This guilt causes him to often attempt to protect others from harm, even if it means putting himself directly in harm's way. In his childhood, he was trained by Kiritsugu to use magecraft. Shirou has very little skill as a magus himself, though he does train what abilities he can use in secret whenever he can. This lack of magical ability puts him at a great disadvantage after he is thrown into the Fifth Holy Grail War when he unwittingly summons his Servant, Saber.

About Shirou Emiya: Abilities

As mentioned before, Shirou has little skill as a magus. That said, however, he is capable of using some forms of magic and improves throughout Fate/stay night. He begins with being able to use Reinforcement magecraft, albeit at a low level. One of the most basic uses of this ability is taking a weak and flimsy object and making it strong and rigid. This magecraft also lets Shirou improve his own physical capabilities to agree. Aside from Reinforcement magecraft, Shirou also has the ability to use Projection magecraft, which allows him to create copies of a target object. As the story progresses, Shirou learns how to use Tracing magecraft. Tracing is a greatly improved version of Projection that allows Shirou to copy legendary items like Avalon, Kanshou, and Bakuya.

Other Important Fate/stay night Characters

Throughout the story of Fate/stay night, Shirou comes around a variety of different characters, with some of the most important being Rin Tohsaka, Sakura Matou. Other fan-favorite characters include Saber, Archer, Lancer, and Gilgamesh.

Rin Tohsaka

Rin Tohsaka is the daughter of the Tohsaka family, a distinguished line of magi in the Fate series. As a child, she was put under great pressure due to her prestigious history and was expected to become a powerful Master in the Fifth Holy Grail War. Rin's perfectionist and demanding personality cause her and her Servant, Archer, to argue a lot, though they do eventually reconcile. Almost in direct contrast to her personality, Rin can be quite clumsy, and often fumbles at the worst possible moments. In the Unlimited Blade Works route of Fate/stay night, Rin Tohsaka is the main heroine and love interest for Shirou.

Sakura Matou

Sakura Matou is Rin Tohsaka's younger sister, though she was adopted into the Matou family after Rin was chosen to inherit the Tohsaka family's magecraft. Generally speaking, Sakura is a very shy and quiet young woman, though she does have moments where she can be stubborn and jealous. She is also a student at Homurahara Academy and is one year behind Shirou. When she is not attending school, she is the subject of rather cruel and abusive training by her adoptive family. Although Sakura goes through an incredible amount of pain and anguish, she comes to simply accept this training as a normal part of her life. She also attempts to hide this aspect of her life from most people, including Shirou. While Rin is the main love interest of the Unlimited Blade Works route of Fate/stay night, Sakura is the love interest of the Heaven's Feel route.
