What is the difference between the website and the Facebook page?
A:
Our Facebook page introduces special news and updates from our website, but our website also features a wide range of other content. The Gallery showcases stunning work from creators all over the world. The News page provides all the latest otaku news in English. The eBooks portal features a broad selection of both manga and serial stories. The TOM Shop offers high-quality products related to Japanese pop culture, including many exclusive and limited-edition items.

How is Tokyo Otaku Mode unique?
A:
Though TOM was first born in Japan, 99.5% of our fans live overseas. TOM has no borders--we are all about serving the international otaku community.

Can I use Tokyo Otaku Mode without registering for an account?
A:
You can browse basic content without registering. But to use our "SUKI" function, leave comments, make purchases on the TOM Shop, and utilize our other services, you will need to register for an account using either Facebook or your email address.

Is registration free?
A:
Yes, registration on TOM is completely free.

Can I disconnect from Facebook?
A:
Yes, you can check out the details on the Settings page. You can also register for an account with your email address instead.

What is TOM’s stand on copyrights?
A:
TOM has a firm stance against copyright infringement. If a copyright infringing post is uploaded or reposted, we will either issue a warning or delete the uploads on a case-by-case basis. To protect creators’ works, right-click has been disabled on our site. All content is regulated by the TOM team. We will do our best to ensure that all of our creators’ artistic rights are protected.

About registration and uploads

What kind of works may be uploaded?
A:
Any anime-, manga-, or game-related content, including Illustrations, cosplay, figures, charaben, latte art, nail art, and more.

Can regular users upload?
A:
Yes, all users can upload creations.

What kind of works are prohibited?
A:
Sexually explicit or graphically violent works are prohibited and will be removed from our site immediately.

Can I upload works that have already been uploaded on other sites?
A:
Yes, as long as you created it.

About our functions

Q:
What is SUKI?
A:
SUKI (pronounced “ski”) is a function that allows you to bookmark the creations that you like. After logging in, you can go to your MyPage to view all the creations you have SUKI’ed.
Q:
What is Follow?
A:
Follow allows you to keep up to date on your favorite users and view all of their works. You can view who you are following and is following you on your MyPage.

What are Tags?
A:
The Tag menu is located on the left side of the top page of the Gallery. Here, you can filter creations based on different keywords. Currently, tags are created by the TOM team. You may search for specific tags using the search bar at the top.

About settings

Can I change my username and profile picture?
A:
Yes, you may change your profile settings in the Settings menu, which can be found on the drop-down menu on the top right corner.
Q:
Can I contact my followers?
A:
You can find the profiles of your followers under the Followers tab. However, at this time, users cannot message each other.
Q:
Can I unfollow a user?
A:
Yes, simply click on the follow button once more of a user you have already followed to un-follow.

Can I change my notification settings?
A:
Yes, you may change your notification settings under the Settings > Notifications menu.
