Hyakkimaru Dororo - Nendoroid

Dororo is a very popular series, the very first manga being released in 1967 and has had a few remakes produced. The series follows a young man named Hyakkimaru who had his body parts stolen by demons. He wishes to defy such a fate and travels around hunting the demons who stole his body parts and takes them back. Hyakkimaru is a popular character due to his impressive strength and strong will to survive. He is portrayed as a handsome man capturing the hearts of many fans. Hyakkimaru is a very popular character and there is a lot of merchandise made. Out of the many products, one of the popular products would have to be the Hyakkimaru Nendoroid called, “Nendoroid Dororo Hyakkimaru”. The smaller and cuter version of Hyakkimaru allows the fans to see a different side of their favorite character. The fans are also able to enjoy a wide range of poses and situations to recreate their favorite scenes from the series.

Nendoroid Dororo Hyakkimaru

The Hyakkimaru Nendoroid shows the 2019 Dororo anime version. He has long black hair tied in a high ponytail and the hair has been sculpted to make it seem as though it is blowing in the wind, the hair is able to be moved allowing for a wide range of poses and positions. He wears his kimono which is black with white patterns which he wears quite loosely and is tied together with a white obi. He is barefoot with bandages around his ankles. The grey robe that Hyakkimaru wears is optional and can be taken off. The robe has a black scarf attached to it and has been made to seem like the wind has blown it to the side. He has alternate arms parts to show that his body parts have been stolen by the demons. He can be posed with his arms as blades or with his prosthetics. Hyakkimaru comes with three different faceplates. One shows him with one of the prosthetic arms in his mouth to show he pulled it off to reveal his sword. Another face shows Hyakkimaru staring forward with an intimidating gaze as he has his mouth closed in a straight line. The last face shows Hyakkimaru ready for battle as his eyes are focused on one point and his mouth open wide as though he was shouting a battle cry.

About Hyakkimaru

Hyakkimaru doesn’t talk much and is quiet due to the fact his ability to speak was also stolen from him. At first, it seems like he doesn’t care much but as he slowly regains his body parts he is curious about the world that he has never experienced before. When he learns of warmth and kindness he too shows cares for the ones he travels with. Since Hyakkimaru is at times like a child he can sometimes easily become blind with rage when he is immersed in his revenge and remembers the fact that he was abandoned as a baby.

About Hyakkimaru: Background

Hyakkimaru was abandoned as a baby and was offered as a sacrifice to demons as soon as he was born allowing the demons to steal his body parts. Despite having no limbs he had a strong will to live even as a baby and instead of being killed as a baby the wetnurse allowed Hyakkimaru a chance to live and left him to float along the river where he was found by a kind doctor. The doctor cared for Hyakkimaru and made prosthetics for him to be able to live. When he gained enough strength he started a journey to defeat the demons who had stolen his limbs and takes them back.

About Hyakkimaru: Abilities

Hyakkimaru is incredibly strong and is able to kill demons. He was taught at a young age how to wield a sword and instead of arms he has dual swords. Hyakkimaru has a lot of endurance as well as he fights for a long time against his foes without proper rest at times.

Other Important Dororo Characters

Dororo is a quiet character who doesn’t really talk however a lot of the other characters grow fond of him despite his cold attitude. Jukai found Hyakkimaru as a baby and cares for him to relieve his guilt of taking so many people’s lives. Dororo encounters Hyakkimaru along his journey and joins him once Dororo sees his fighting prowess thinking she would be able to make money and stay safe.

Dororo

Dororo is a young child thief who follows Hyakkimaru around. Dororo was raised as a male and forced to hide the fact that she was female as it wasn’t a safe period for young females. Dororo is impressed by Hyakkimaru’s fighting skills and stays with him thinking she’d be able to make easy money off him. Along the journey, Dororo trusts Hyakkimaru more and calls him brother, and reveals a secret to him that her father had warned to only show to someone she really trusted.

Jukai

Jukai is a doctor and is Hyakkimaru's father figure. He was the one who found Hyakkimaru as a baby and raised him and gave him prosthetics to be able to live. Jukai was making prosthetics for the fallen samurais who died in wars. Jukai is very kind and selfless due to the heavy guilt he carries from torturing many people to death and so he offers his services for free.
