Synopsis
Third-year high school student Nariyuki Yuiga is tasked with tutoring three beautiful girls who are geniuses in certain subjects and total disasters in others. Each with her own goals and dreams for the future, they give it their all and study hard. But as they spend more time with Nariyuki, they all start to develop feelings for him.
In the second season, Nariyuki and the three girls continue to do their best in their studies. But at this point, all three females have grown closer to Nariyuki and to one another. More emotions and embarrassing moments are bound to surface as the trio each struggle to define their relationship with Nariyuki.
Background
We Never Learn is a manga created and illustrated by Taishi Tsutsui. It started serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2016 and is currently ongoing. The first season of the series’ anime adaptation began airing in April 2019 and ran for 13 episodes. An OVA episode will be released on Nov. 1, 2019.
A second season is scheduled to begin airing during the fall 2019 anime lineup. It is directed by Yoshiaki Iwasaki and written by Go Zappa. The anime is being produced by Studio Silver and Arvo Animation.
Characters
Nariyuki Yuiga (Voiced by: Ryota Osaka)
The story’s main protagonist. A third-year male student at the top of his class whose impeccable dedication to his studies was inspired by his late father. Nariyuki’s goal is to receive a special VIP nomination. To do so, he must help three genius female students get into the colleges of their choice. He has short black hair and wears glasses.
Fumino Furuhashi (Voiced by: Haruka Shiraishi)
A third-year female student extremely gifted in literature and the arts. She has long straight purple hair and wears a light teal top. Her weakness is mathematics but she wants a science degree.
Rizu Ogata (Voiced by: Miyu Tomita)
Another female third-year student. Her claim to fame is her exceptional abilities in science and math. Her goal is to build a career in literature, however, that is the area she struggles in. She has short orange hair, glasses, and wears a maroon blazer.
Uruka Takemoto (Voiced by: Sayumi Suzushiro)
Yet another female third-year student in need of Nariyuki’s help. Uruka is an absolute ace in athletics but terrible at just about everything else. She wants to win a swimming scholarship for college but needs to greatly improve her English grades to do so. She has short wild violet purple hair and more of a tan than the other girls. She has also known Nariyuki since junior high.
Mafuyu Kirisu (Voiced by: Lynn)
The former tutor of Rizu and Fumino and a teacher at Ichinose High.
Asumi Kominami (Voiced by: Madoka Asahina)
An alumni of Ichinose High. She works at a maid cafe to pay for her cram school. Asumi wants a career in medicine.
Sawako Sekijou (Voiced by: Saori Onishi)
President of the school’s chemistry club. Sawako admires the science wiz, Rizu.
Miharu Kirisu
The younger sister of Mafuyu Kirisu and an amateur skater.
