Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma: The Fourth Plate video 1

Alternate Title

食戟のソーマ 神ノ皿
Shokugeki no Soma: Kami no Sara

Synopsis

As the son of a famous chef, Soma Yukihira wants to simultaneously follow in his father’s footsteps and surpass him as the chef of their family-owned restaurant! After the restaurant is closed, however, his aspirations shift - there is apparently an elite school called the Totsuki Culinary Academy where less than a fraction of the students manage to graduate. Enthralled by the challenge, he charges headfirst into a new world of culinary techniques and hard-working classmates that all aspire to achieve something great. At the academy, cooking is never dull - especially when students can challenge each other to cooking matches that could mean as little as revealing a secret recipe, to facing expulsion from the school. And then you have the “Elite Ten,” special titles reserved for the top 10 chefs in the school…

The Season of the Advancement Exams has arrived, but with the school now ruled by the Central Gourmet Organization, none of the students are allowed to cook freely. To remedy the situation, Soma and other “rebels” who stand against the council begin challenging the new council members. The rebels may have won the first bout with ease, but things are just heating up!

Characters

Soma Yukihira (Voiced by: Matsuoka Yoshitsugu (Japanese); Blake Shepard (English))

The protagonist of the series. He is quite the likeable young man, with an enthusiastic and friendly personality - traits that come through in his cooking and in his customer service. When it comes to cooking, his specialty is his unique and creative approaches to all sorts of dishes. The only time you will see him deadly serious is when he is cooking or in a cooking battle.

Erina Nakiri (Voiced by: Hisako Kanemoto (Japanese); Stephanie Wittels (English)

Erina was raised to have an eye and taste for gourmet culinary cuisine - as such, she has a unique skill called “The God’s Tongue,” which allows her to accurately scrutinize and analyze any ingredient that has gone into a dish. Initially, Erina is part of the Elite Ten, and is manipulated by her abusive grandfather, who happens to be the school’s director. She considered herself superior to common cooks until a turn of events leads her to befriend Soma and other cookies. With her new friends, she gained the courage to defy her caretakers, and subsequently left the Elite Ten to help Soma and the others improve as chefs and become her own chef.

Megumi Tadokoro (Voiced by: Minami Takahashi (Japanese); Jad Saxton (English))

Initially shy and lacking in confidence when she first began attending Totsuki Culinary Academy, her friendship with Soma eventually paved the way for her to grow both as a person and as a chef. She aims to become a skilled chef at her family’s inn. Given her background, it’s unsurprising that her specialty is creating foods that make customers feel treated and loved!

Takumi Aldini (Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae (Japanese); Bryson Baugus (English))

Handsome and half-European, this aspiring chef considers Soma his number one rival since they both want to be chefs at their own family-owned restaurants.
