Synopsis
Set on a planet covered 71% by oceans, enemies from another world called Siren suddenly appear. In order to combat this new powerful enemy, the four major powers of the world band together to form the global union Azur Lane, made up of anthropomorphized battleship girls.

However, due to differences in thought regarding whether or not to use the power of the Sirens to their advantage, Tekketsu and Juou break away from Azur Lane and form the opposing faction, Red Axis. In order to keep an eye on Red Axis and their movements, Azur Lane creates a new base in the middle of the ocean. When the situation turns critical, the girls’ unknown fates begin to stir...
Background
Azur Lane the Animation is an adaptation of Azur Lane, a side-scrolling shooter RPG for Android and iOS featuring naval ships personified by beautiful female characters. The game has spawned a number of adaptations including manga and novels, with the anime being the latest. It is being directed by Tensho at Bibury Animation Studios with Jin Haganeya penning the script, Masayuki Nonaka handling the character designs, and Yasutomo Nishiki creating the music. The opening theme song is "Graphite/Diamond" by May'n, and the ending theme song is "Hikari no Michishirube" by Kano. The anime will premiere in Japan in October.

Enterprise (Voiced by: Yui Ishikawa)
An aircraft carrier with the Union fleet, Enterprise aka “Gray Ghost” is the strongest hero of the Union. A systematic and stoic soldier, she will accomplish her mission and protect her friends no matter what.
Raffi (Voiced by: Maria Naganawa)
A destroyer with the Union fleet, Raffi is always sleepy and goes at her own pace. However, she cares for her friends and shows a serious side when the time calls for it. She drinks oxygen cola straight from the bottle.
Cleveland (Voiced by: Saya Horigome)
A light cruiser with the Union fleet, Cleveland is the elder sister of the fleet and takes care of her friends.
Belfast (Voiced by: Yui Horie)
A light cruiser with the Royal fleet, Belfast is in charge of the maid squad that serves the queen and does everything, from fighting to personnel management to housework. She is diligent in her work, and will even speak respectfully of her enemies. She seems to have an interest in Enterprise.
Javelin (Voiced by: Nozomi Yamane)
A destroyer with the Royal fleet, Javelin is an energetic tomboy who is a sensitive and serious honor student type.
Unicorn (Voiced by: Ai Kakuma)
A light aircraft carrier with the Royal fleet, Unicorn is shy and is always holding her plush toy Yu-chan. She likes to hide behind her older sister Illustrious. She is very gentle-hearted.
Illustrious (Voiced by: Sora Amamiya
An aircraft carrier with the Royal fleet, Illustrious has a support role in the fleet. She is intellectual and refined but also displays a playful, childlike side from time to time.
Prince of Wales (Voiced by: Chinami Hashimoto)
A battleship with the Royal fleet, Prince of Wales is referred to as “Ouji-sama” due to his elegance and sophistication. He commands the front like from Azur Lane.
Akagi (Voiced by: Mai Nakahara)
An aircraft carrier and leader of the Juou fleet, Akagi has overwhelming power and is the strongest warship in the fleet. She dotes on her younger sister Kaga, who is also a powerful warship in the fleet. She keeps her true feelings close to the chest and is a mystery even to her fellow battleships.
Kaga (Voiced by: Ai Kayano)
An aircraft carrier with the Juou fleet, Kaga is the strongest warship in the fleet along with her older sister Akagi. She has a competitive personality but cares for her friends and calls Akagi “Ane-sama.”
Ayanami (Voiced by: Yo Taichi)
A destroyer with the Juou fleet, Ayanami also goes by the name “Onigami.” Though a skilled tactician on the battlefield, in actuality she doesn’t like conflict. She is quiet and bad at communicating but she is loved by her friends in the fleet.
Zuikaku (Voiced by: Risa Taneda)
An aircraft carrier with the Zuou fleet, Zuikaku is a hardworking and serious soldier. She is rivals with Enterprise.
Z23 (Voiced by: Rika Abe)
A destroyer with the Tekketsu fleet, Z23 is staying at the Juou base. She is disliked by those around her for being too serious, however she has a good heart.
