Synopsis
Set in a world in which jet ski racing with two-person teams consisting of a “Jetter” who drives the jet ski and a “Shooter” who attacks opponents with a water gun is a major sport, Rin Namiki is the daughter of a legendary Jetter, and she dreams of jet ski racing herself one day. She leaves her hometown behind to move to Asakusa, Tokyo where she meets a cool bishoujo beauty named Misa Aoi and the two become partners. Their bond deepens as they compete against rivals in white-knuckle jet ski races.
Background
Kandagawa Jet Girls is a mixed media project created by Kadokawa, Marvelous, and Egg Firm. The main producer of the project is Kenichiro Takaki who also worked on Senran Kagura and Valkyrie Drive. An anime is currently in the works at TNK with Hiraku Kaneko directing, Go Zappa writing the script, Tsutomu Miyazawa adapting Hanaharu Naruko’s original character designs to anime, and Koichi Mugitani and Nanashiki Yamamoto in charge of mechanical designs. The opening theme song is “Kandagawa Jet Girls” by Yu Sasahara and Riko Kohara as their respective characters. The anime will premiere in Japan in October 2019.
Characters
Rin Namiki (Voiced by: Yu Sasahara)
Originally from Ojika, Nagasaki Prefecture, Rin moves to Asakusa, Tokyo and begins attending Asakusa Girls High School as a first-year student. Her mother was a famous Jetter, and Rin has exceptional skill as a Jetter herself, but she has never participated in an official race before.
Misa Aoi (Voiced by: Riko Kohara)
A first-year student at Asakusa Girls High School, Misa loves jet ski racing but gave it up due to certain reasons. However, she begins racing again after meeting Rin.
Emily Orange (Voiced by: Ai Fairouz)
A second-year student of the Japan branch of the California Coast High School, Emily has high respect for ninjas and has a habit of using “gozaru” in her speech.
Kuromatsu Manpuku (Voiced by: Aya Suzaki)
A third-year student at the Musashi Private Girls Academy, Kuromatsu is a glutton who is always eating something. She is bad at dieting.
Inori Misuda (Voiced by: Aya Uchida)
A second-year student at the high school attached to Seibashi University, Inori is a shrine girl who is polite and kind to everyone, but she can be scary when she gets angry. Jokes sometimes go over her head. She is a Shooter who uses a Gatling gun.
Fuka Tamaki (Voiced by: Ayaka Asai)
A second-year student at the high school attached to Seibashi University, Fuka rarely got out when she was a child and spent her time reading, so she speaks like she would in a note.
Kaguya Shijuin (Voiced by: Azusa Tadokoro)
A third-year student at Musashi Private Girls Academy, Kaguya is a highly confident and prideful ojou-sama.
Manatsu Shiraishi (Voiced by: Chika Anzai)
A second-year student at Shinjuku Ritsudababa Girls College, Manatsu is a kuro gyaru who is overall pretty average.
Yuzu Midorikawa (Voiced by: Kaori Maeda)
A third-year student at Shinjuku Ritsudababa Girls College, Yuzu is a Shooter who prefers a shotgun.
Jennifer Peach (Voiced by: Lynn)
A second-year student at the Japan branch of the California Coast High School, Jennifer is an American studying abroad. She loves Japanese culture, especially samurai.
Pan Tina (Voiced by: Naomi Ozora)
A first-year student at CS Production Academy, Pan Tina is a member of the unit Hell’s Kitchen along with her twin older sister Pan Tsui. Her idol personality is a “moody cat.”
Pan Tsui (Voiced by: Rumi Okubo)
A first-year student at CS Production Academy, Pan Tsui is a member of the unit Hell’s Kitchen along with her twin younger sister Pan Tina. She gains attention as an idol.
