Synopsis
High school boy Takuma Akutsu has a scary face that terrifies everyone around him and has earned him the nickname “demon,” so he is very lonely and resigned to just getting along on his own. All of that changes, however, when he is forced to help nine Valkyrie sisters battle monsters which threaten human civilization. And how is he going to help? By loving them, of course!
Background
Val x Love is adapted from the manga by Ryousuke Asakura which is currently running in Monthly Shonen Gangan. The anime adaptation was announced in the May 2019 issue of the magazine, and the first season will premiere in October 2019. Rikako Aida will perform the series’ opening theme, and the show will have three alternating ending themes performed by the Valkyrie voice actors in groups of three.

Takuma Akutsu (Voiced by: Yuya Hirose)

Age: 16
Takuma is a 16-year-old high school boy whose physique and scary face have earned him the nickname “demon.” Unable to make friends, he’s become afraid of human contact. Really he just wanted to be left alone but finds himself pulled into the battle to save humanity when the nine Valkyrie sisters move in with him.
Natsuki Saotome (Voiced by: Kaede Hondo)

Ability: Sword
The seventh of the nine Valkyrie sisters, Natsuki Saotome is in Takuma’s class. In school she’s a sweet and gentle angel but hides a strong will. She’s developed feelings for Takuma ever since he rescued her. Natsuki uses “boku” as her personal pronoun and worries that her breasts are smaller than those of her sisters.
Itsuyo Saotome (Voiced by: Ai Kakuma)

Itsuyo Saotome is the fifth of the nine Valkyrie sisters and the student council president at Takuma’s school. She is beautiful and clever but is only really using Takuma to contribute to the human world and get her father’s attention.
Mutsumi Saotome (Voiced by: Rina Hidaka)

Ability: Wings
The sixth of the nine Valkyrie sisters, Mutsumi Saotome goes to Takuma’s school and is also an up-and-coming idol. She is fond of Takuma, but is shy and thinks dating is impossible because of her busy schedule.
Ichika Saotome (Voiced by: Yumi Uchiyama)

Ichiko Saotome is the oldest of the Valkyrie sisters. For some reason, she doesn’t live at Takuma’s with the others but watches over them from the shadows.
Futaba Saotome (Voiced by: Yumi Hara)
Height: 170 cm
Age: 24
Ability: Castles
The second oldest of the Valkyrie sisters, Futaba Saotome handles all the housework and is like a mother to the other girls. On the battlefield, however, she outdoes them all!
Misa Saotome (Voiced by: Ayaka Shimizu)
Height: 163 cm
Age: 20
Ability: Thread
The third Valkyrie sister, Misa Saotome is strong willed but caring. She fights enemies using thread and uses her sewing skills to make stuffed toys for her sisters.

The fourth of the Valkyrie sisters, Shino Saotome wears a helmet on her head and is a strange woman who lives in a shed in the garden.

The eighth of the Valkyrie sisters, Yakumo Saotome is a cool girl with a wicked tongue. She suspects that studious Takuma isn’t very interested in dating any of the sisters.

As the youngest of the Valkyries, Kururi Saotome is doted on by her sisters but is also a talented inventor!
Sue (Voiced by: Hiyori Nitta)
The beloved dog of the Saotome Valkyrie sisters.
