Synopsis
Talented markswoman Hikari Kokura was keen to join the rifle club at her new school, Chidori High, but is dismayed to discover that it’s in danger of disbandment due to lack of members. Luckily she manages to convince three other girls to join her and restarts the club with her eyes firmly set on national championships!
Background
Rifle Is Beautiful is adapted from the four panel manga by Akki Sarumi which has been running online via Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump website since 2015. The anime adaptation was announced in October 2018 in Weekly Young Jump issue 46 and will premiere on Oct. 13, 2019.
The first series’ opening theme, "Let's go! Rifling 4!!!!,” and ending "Yuyake Friends," are performed by the show’s voice actresses under the name Rifling 4.
Characters
Hikari Kokura (Voiced by: Machico)
Hikari Kokura is a first-year student at Chidori High School. She is absolutely crazy about shooting and though her marksmanship is generally below average, she is capable of national level results when she really concentrates. She gets along well with anyone and always picks up new friends at tournaments.
Izumi Shibusawa (Voiced by: Akane Kumada)
A first-year student at Chidori High School, Izumi Shibusawa got into shooting thanks to Hikari during their elementary school days, though her marksmanship is still pretty average. She is very caring and sometimes manipulated by Hikari. Izumi lives with her dad.
Erika Meinohama (Voiced by: Saki Minami)
Erika Meinohama is a first-year at Chidori High School. Half Japanese, she is a beautiful young woman who excels at studies and at sports. She really gives shooting her all and has a healthy rivalry with Hikari and Yukio but values her friendships too.
Yukio Igarashi (Voiced by: Anna Yamaki)
Yukio Igarashi is a first-year at Chidori High School. She is also a top class shooter who won national prizes in middle school, but people often think she's a bit strange because she doesn’t say much and has a vacant expression. Yukio really likes cats!
