Synopsis
Sora Kurumatani is a little guy not particularly suited to the basketball court but loves the game all the same. In middle school he never got picked for the team but is intent to give it his all after joining Kuzuryu High School. However, he finds out that Kuzuryu hardly has a basketball team at all so he’s doubtful he can even play. Nevertheless, he commits himself to doing his best to make the team as he squares off against his fellow members.
Background
Ahiru no Sora is adapted from the manga by Takeshi Hinata. The anime adaptation was announced on Feb. 28, 2018 and the first season will premiere in October 2019. The Pillows will perform opening theme song, "Happy Go Ducky!”

Sora Kurumatani has just transferred to Kuzuryu High School after moving in with his grandmother while his mother is in the hospital. He is cheerful, positive, and hates to lose. He really loves basketball so wants to take the club back from all the delinquents. Sora treasures the basketball shoes he inherited from his mother and is good at three-point shots. He has a complex about his small stature.
Momoharu Hanazono (Voiced by: Yuma Uchida)

Height: 189 cm
Momoharu is the captain of the basketball team. He prides himself on his jumping ability and being able to do dunk shots. His forte is rebounds and blocking, and he hates shooting. He originally began playing basketball in middle school but quit due to certain circumstances. He is short tempered and prone to getting into fights.
Chiaki Hanazono (Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi)

Chiaki Hanazono is Momoharu’s twin brother and took up basketball as a kid under his influence. Good at grasping the situation and a natural leader, Chiaki is really into sweets and girls but usually fails when he tries to approach ladies he likes. Chiaki keeps his true strength to himself but can also be a bother.
Kenji Natsume (Voiced by: Kisho Taniyama)

Kenji Natsume hails from Hiroshima and is nicknamed “Toby.” He has exceptional aptitude for basketball but sometimes gets irritated with people who aren't really bothering. Nevertheless, he really helps people on the team when they put their heart into it. Kenji also really looks after his little sister.
Kaname Shigeyoshi (Voiced by: Mamoru Miyano)

Height: 198 cm
Nicknamed “Mikichi,” Kaname Shigeyoshi is tall and good at hook shots. He previously played for a top middle school team in Sajo but joined the science club in high school. A man of few words, Kaname has a sharp tongue and poor stamina so he’s always tired.
Shinichi Yasuhara (Voiced by: Taku Yashiro)

Height: 181 cm
Nicknamed “Yazu,” Shinichi Yasuhara used to be on the karate team but has been suspended after hitting a classmate. From then until Sora came, he used to hang out in the basketball club room with Chiaki and Momoharu. He is a responsible person with excellent reflexes.
Ryuhei Nabeshima (Voiced by: Chado Horii)

Nicknamed “Nabe,” Ryuhei Nabeshima joined the basketball club after Sora arrived. He is often annoyed with himself about his lack of progress.

Nicknamed “Chakki,” Masahiro Saki had no previous basketball experience before joining the team. He perseveres but is sometimes irritated when he can’t get it together.

Madoka Yabuuchi is a female basketball player with a caring personality. She is really looking forward to seeing how Sora shakes up the guys’ team.
Nao Nanao (Voiced by: Yuna Taniguchi)

As the daughter of a sporting goods store owner, Nao Nanao knows her stuff when it comes to basketball. Madoka, who knew her in middle school, respects her tactical skill.

Momoharu Hanazono is the captain of Kuzuryu High School’s basketball team. He can jump really high and is great at dunking as well as being good at rebounds and blocks, but he's not so hot at shooting. He played basketball back in middle school but gave it up for a while and is extremely short tempered.

Yuka Kurumatani is Sora’s mother and a former basketball player herself.
Shinichi Chiba (Voiced by: Kazuya Nakai)

Height: 200 cm
Shinichi is captain of the Shinmaruko basketball team. Due to his hearty play style and leadership abilities he is deeply trusted by his teammates. In middle school he was short and never got to play in matches.
Tokitaka Tokiwa (Voiced by: Soma Saito)

The ace of the Shinmaruko basketball team, Tokitaka’s position is point guard. He rules the court with his wide field of view and advanced skills. He likes music and is a member of a band, though he doesn’t play much. He is good looking and popular with the ladies, and is rivals with Chiaki.
Taro Kabachi (Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama)

Height: 174 cm
The ace player of Kitasumiyoshi high’s basketball team, Taro’s position is small forward. He is cousins with Nao and gets along well with her. Though a flippant narcissist, he has extraordinary physicality and senses. He makes a good team with classmate Shingo.
Shingo Katori (Voiced by: Makoto Furukawa)

Fast and highly skilled, Shingo’s position is point guard. He is always calm and knows just how to handle Taro when he gets emotional. He is nicknamed “Kato” by Taro.

Katsumi is the captain of Shingo Towa’s basketball team. His position is point guard, but he is an all-arounder who is skilled at three-point shots too. He used to play on the same team as Chiaki when he was younger.

Yukinari was teammates with Katsumi in middle school and was a club member when him during his first year of high school. He is the moodmaker of the team, and is highly observant, being able to take in the whole court at once. He suffered a ligament injury prior to being for the inter high district.
Sei Shiraishi (Voiced by: Takahiro Sakurai)

Height: 183 cm
A point getter for Yokohama Daiei, Sei’s skill is already on the national level even though he is only a second-year student. Ever since sixth grade he has had a serious desire to become an NBA player. He is always cool and stoic.
Shigenobu Yakuma (Voiced by: Yuichiro Umehara)

Height: 190 cm
Shigenobu has astounding physicality. He can easily block shots with his impressive jumping ability and is highly skilled on the court. He speaks rudely but has a caring side too. He butts heads with Sei.
Hyo Fuwa (Voiced by: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)

Height: 178 cm
Hyo’s defining characteristic is his orange hair. His position is small forward and shooting guard. He lived in the US until fifth grade. He has high physicality and exceptional senses on the court.
Youzan Kamiki (Voiced by: Yuto Uemura)

Height: 158 cm
Youzan is short and slender but has the strength to tackle rigorous practice. He was previously taught how to play basketball by Sora’s mom, Yuka. He is highly skilled, from assisting to three-point shots. He gets along well with Hyo.
