Synopsis

G.C.0051, Neo Tokyo
A half century has passed since first contact.
Humans have acquired faster than light travel technology and have forged a commonwealth of planets with several alien species.

Robby is a freelance reportage writer in Neo Tokyo who is experiencing a string of bad luck. He ends up failing at his job and loses his contract, his girlfriend leaves him, he almost gets killed in a traffic accident, and debt collectors are hot on his heels. One day, a bag snatcher makes off with Robby’s bag and a young man comes to his aid. The young man, who calls himself Hatchi, catches the criminal and returns Robby’s bag, and as thanks Robby shares some food with him. Unbeknownst to Robby, Hatchi works part-time for the loan shark Robby owns money to, and soon the two cross paths again as Hatchi is sent to collect Robby’s debt. A cat and mouse game begins as Yang’s Finance president Yang and his two subordinates Gras and Allo join in on the hunt for Robby.

Finding himself in a tight spot, Robby escapes to space in a spaceship. Having shaken off Yang and the others, Robby gets the idea to escape to a distant planet in the Milky Way called Isekandar, a planet of legend said to make anyone who goes their happy. Though he had thought he gave them all the slip and got away clean, he soon discovers that Hatchi as stowed away on his spaceship, and the two decide to traverse the galaxy together in search of Isekandar.

Background

RobiHachi is an original TV anime being directed by Shinji Takamatsu at Studio Comet with Hiroko Kanasugi writing the script, Yuuko Yahiro designing the characters, and Shin Misawa handling concept designs The opening theme song will be "Tensai no Playlist" by Keisuke Koumoto and Kazuya Nakai as their characters, and the ending theme song will be "Dancing to Night Kimi e no Saitan Warp Kōro" by Subaru Kimura, Shinosuke Tokudome, and Tomokazu Sugita as their characters. The anime will premiere in Japan on AbemaTV and AT-X on April 8, 2019.

Characters

Robby Yarge (Voiced by: Kazuya Nakai)

He’s a playboy who has a weakness for beautiful women but also has a highly cultured side. He comes from an affluent family, but is opposed to the ostentatiousness of his parents and ran away to Neo Tokyo when he was in his teens. He tries to get rich quick through various schemes, but ends up finding himself being chased by debt collectors.

Hatchi Kita (Voiced by: Keisuke Koumoto)

An 18-year-old prodigy, Hatchi has a cool personality and excels in academics and physicality. He comes to Neo Tokyo looking for something interesting. He finds the world predictable and devoid of fun. He works part-time as a debt collector while waiting for something unexpected to one day happen.

JPS-19 (Voiced by: Daisuke Sakaguchi)

A support robot who lives with Robby. He is nicknamed “Ikku.” He may look cute, but he has a foul mouth and often gives Robby a hard time.

Gras (Voiced by: Shinosuke Tokudome)

An employee at Yang’s Finance, Gras is subordinate #2 and a loveable idiot. His defining feature is his pink afro. He unintentionally parrots Allo at times.

Allo (Voiced by: Subaru Kimura)

An employee at Yang’s Finance, Allo is subordinate #1. His defining feature is his blonde pompadour. He admires and respects Yang.

Yang (Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita)

Yang is a loan shark and the president of Yang’s Finance. He has an impeccable fashion sense. He has an intense fixation on Robby, whom he loaned gold to, and is chasing after him. His favorite food is strawberry milk candy.
