Synopsis

In U.C. 0068, Zeon Zum Deikun dies during a speech intended to declare the independence of the Autonomous Republic of Munzo from the Earth Federation. Munzo falls into political disarray allowing the House of Zabi to rise to power. Meanwhile, Deikun’s children, Casval and Artesia, flee to safety on Earth. Biding their time while the Principality of Zeon gathers military might, the siblings eventually declare war in January U.C. 0079.

Background

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin began as a six part film series released in Japanese cinemas from 2015 to 2018. The TV anime will re-edit the series as 13 episodes and will premiere on April 29, 2019. LUNA SEA will perform the three opening theme songs for the show with SUGIZO producing the endings.

Casval Rem Deikun / Édouard Mass / Char Aznable (Voiced by: Mayumi Tanaka (as a child) / Shuichi Ikeda)

Casval Rem Deikun is the son of Zeon Zum Deikun, ruler of the Autonomous Republic of Munzo. After his father’s death, he fell under the protection of the House of Zabi but later hid his identity and became an ace pilot with the Principality of Zeon.

Artesia Som Deikun / Sayla Mass (Voiced by: Megumi Han)

Sister of Casval, Artesia Som Deikun is the daughter of Zeon Zum Deikun. She fled to Earth with her mother and brother after Deikun’s death.

Zenna Mia (Voiced by: Ai Kayano)

Zenna Mia is the wife of Dozle Zabi and the mother of Mineva Lao Zabi.

Kycilia Zabi (Voiced by: Akeno Watanabe)

Kycilia Zabi is the daughter of Degwin Sodo Zabi and an officer in Munzo’s security forces.

Astraia Tor Deikun(Voiced by: Ayumi Tsunematsu)

Astraia Tor Deikun is the lover of Zeon Zum Deikun and the mother of his two children.

Gihren Zabi (Voiced by: Banjou Ginga)

Gihren Zabi is Degwin Sodo Zabi’s heir and the Supreme Commander of the Principality of Zeon.

Jimba Ral (Voiced by: Chafurin)

Jimba Ral helped Casval, Artesia, and their mother Astraia to escape after the death of Deikun.

Zeon Zum Deikun (Voiced by: Eizou Tsuda)

Zeon Zum Deikun was the leader of the Autonomous Republic of Munzo until his sudden death during a speech announcing its independence from the Earth Federation.

Clamp (Voiced by: Hironori Kondou)

Clamp is the right-hand man of Ramba Ral and the bartender at Club Eden.

Johann Ibrahim Revil (Voiced by: Hiroshi Naka)

Admiral Johann Ibrahim Revil is the commander of Earth Federation’s space force.

Degwin Sodo Zabi (Voiced By: Jin Urayama)

Degwin Sodo Zabi is the absolute dictator of the Principality of Zeon. He came to power after the death of Deikun.

Gaia (Voiced by: Kazuya Ichijou)

Miguel Gaia is a second lieutenant of the Autonomous Republic of Zeon and later the leader of the Black Tri-Stars.

Ortega (Voiced by: Kenichirou Matsuda)

Ortega is an ace pilot and one of the Black Tri-Trim-Stars along with Miguel Gaia and Mash.

Dozle Zabi (Voiced by: Kenta Miyake)

Dozle Zabi is the commander of the Principality of Zeon’s space attack force and the son of Degwin.

Tem Ray (Voiced by: Koichi Sakaguchi)

Tem Ray is the father of Amuro Ray and the designer of the RX-78-02 Gundam.

Don Teabolo Mass (Voiced by: Kouichi Makishima)

Don Teabolo Mass is the adopted father of Casval and Artesia after they fled to Earth following Deikun’s death.

Fraw Bow (Voiced by: Misato Fukuen)

Fraw Bow is a close friend of Amuro Ray and later the wife of Hayato Kobayashi.

Crowley Hamon (Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro)

Crowley Hamon is a singer at Club Eden and the lover of Ramba Ral. She is also an old friend of Astraia.

Lalah Sune (Voiced by: Saori Hayami)

Lalah Sune is a gambler who frequents the casinos and has a strange talent at the roulette wheel. Originally from Mumbai, she eventually decides to go to space with Char.

Ramba Ral (Voiced by: Shigeo Kiyama)

Ramba Ral is the son of Jimba Ral and a captain in the Autonomous Republic of Munzo security forces.

Garma Zabi (Voiced by: Tetsuya Kakihara)

Garma Zabi is the son of Degwin and a hero to the Zeon people.

Amuro Ray (Voiced by: Toru Furuya)

Amuro is the son of engineer Tem Ray and later the pilot of the RX-78-02 Gundam.

Mash (Voiced by: Toshihide Tsuchiya)

Lieutenant Junior Grade Mash is a member of the Black Tri-Stars along with Miguel Gaia and Ortega.

Char Aznable (Voiced by: Toshihiko Seki)

The “real” Char Aznable is the son of Roger Aznable and looks exactly like Casval except for having a different eye color.

Fang Li (Voiced by: Asami Seto )

Fang Li is the girlfriend of Yuki Snow.

Mirai Yashima (Voiced by: Ayumi Fujimura)

Mirai Yashima has a space cruiser license and travelled to Side 7 in a private craft, eventually taking the SCV-70 White Base helm.

Yuki (Voiced by: Kensho Ono)

Yuki Snow is the boyfriend of Fang Li.

Donovan Matgloss (Voiced by: Mitsuru Ogata)

Donovan Matgloss is a second lieutenant with the Autonomous Republic of Munzo serving under Ramba.

Roselucia Deikun (Voiced by: Miyuki Ichijou)

A former street activist who retired from political life due to illness, Roselucia Deikun is Deikun's legal wife. She despises Astraia for bearing Deikun’s children.

Gopp (Voiced by: Naomi Kusumi)

Gopp is a senior Earth Federation officer stationed at Jaburo.

Tachi Ohara (Voiced by: Riki Kitazawa)

Tachi Ohara is a second lieutenant with the Autonomous Republic of Munzo. He has a crush on Club Eden singer Hamon and works on the docking bay.

Sasro Zabi (Voiced by: Shinshu Fuji)

Sasro Zabi is the son of Degwin and the Zeon Party's national campaign department.

Denim (Voiced by: Shintaro Oohata)

Denim is a Mobile Suit pilot with the Principality of Zeon. His rank is master sergeant.
