Risa Oribe (織部 里沙) was born in Gifu Prefecture, Japan on June 24, 1987. Also known as LiSA, is a songwriter, singer, and lyricist. Her stage name is an acronym stands for Love is Same All, the same name as the band she formed in Tokyo. One of her theme phrases and also the name of her blog is “今日もいい日だっ” which means "Another Great Day". Releasing hit after hits and making an impact in the anime industry. LiSA is well known for her singles in the Angel Beats, Fate/Zero, Sword Art Online, and Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) franchise

Early Career

LiSA began her career in 2005, she started singing in an indie cover band called Chucky in high school. However the same year, Chucky disbanded and LiSA moved to Tokyo to pursue her solo career. Her major debut started by being selected as the singer of the fictional band Girl’s Dead Monster of the TV anime known as Angel Beats! that was broadcast in the spring of 2010. In April 2011, she made her solo debut with the mini album Letters to U.

2012 to 2015

She released her first full solo album Lover”s”mile on February 22, 2012. In regards to the anime industry, she became the main singer in popular and famous works such as Fate Zero by Ufotable, and Sword Art Online. These anime series were not only broadcast in Japan but also internationally, securing her presence in the anime scene. Garnering an international audience, she performed for the first time in North America at Anime Expo in 2012, and Animelo Summer Live. Her singles Crossing Field and Oath Sign being certified gold, and her recent songs consistently making it to the top ten of Oricon weekly charts.

In addition to singing, she had live performances which garnered positive reaction selling out on performances one after another. One of these concerts in Nippon Budokan in 2014 her fifth single Rising Hope was used in the anime series The Irregular at Magic High School. Later the same year covering Yūkei Yesterday, and Headphone Actor in the Kagerou Project franchise for the sixth episode of the anime Mekakucity Actors.

Overall, LiSA has good relations with the anime industry and especially the Sword Art Online Franchise in general. Her seventh single Shirushi that was used in the third ending theme to 2014 anime series Sword Art Online season 2, peaking at number 3 on the Oricon chart. Selling out concert tickets at Nippon Budokan from January 10th to 11th, 2015. She released her eight single Rally go Round on May 27, 2015 used as the opening theme to Nisekoi second season.

2016 to 2019

Commemorating her fifth year as a solo artist, she released her Letters To U as a limited edition package on March 23, 2016. Used as the opening themes to 2016 anime series Qualidea Code was Brave Freak Out and AxxxiS. Anime Film Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale she used the theme song Catch the Moment that was also released as a single. In April 2017, LiSA moved to the Sacra Music record label under Sony Music Entertainment Japan. Releasing her fourth studio album Little Devil parade on May 24 the same year. Datte Atashi no Hero released August 2, 2017 was used as the second ending theme to My Hero Academia. Ash also released 2017th of October first used as the second opening to theme to the anime Fate/Apocrypha. She performed Thrill, Risk, Heartless as the theme to the video game Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, and the song Adamas released December 12, 2018 was used in the first opening theme of Sword Art Online: Alicization.

Gurenge that was released digitally on April 22, 2019 was used for the opening theme song to the anime series Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer). Collaborating with FictionJunction performed From the Edge released on September 1, 2019 for the ending theme to Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer). Closing the year in December 11, 2019 she released her Single Unlasting for the third ending theme to Sword Art Online: Alicization.

Influences

LiSA credits western rock music as her musical influences such as but not limited to Avril Lavigne, Oasis, Green Day, Paramore, and Rihanna. Her musical style is beautiful vocals with the adaptability to create upbeat happy to darker style tones. When writing Oath Sign, she felt the dark heavy style would be too different from her usual style but was able to receive a favorable reception. Providing her the confidence to make Crossing Fields soon after.
