Acting in Kimetsu no Yaiba

Ai Kakuma voices Makomo in the anime Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer). In a radio interview she has said that for her role, although she didn't have many lines to speak she thought it was really fun. It was a very important role in developing the character of Tanjiro Kamado, since most of the other characters are harsh on Tanjiro she feels as though Makomo plays as a part in giving him a place of peace, somewhere to rest. In another interview she has stated that her first impression she had of Makomo was that she was quite a cute character with her appearance because of her outfit and mask.

Voice Actress Debut

When she graduated from high school she worked as an office lady for four years to not put stress on her family. She then entered Mausu Promotion training school in 2011 and graduated as the 26th graduation class and officially became affiliated with the agency in April 2013. Her anime debut was in Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai! (2012) where she voiced an unnamed character. She was on several radio programs and acted as an extra in several video games.
