Characters - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)
The Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) original manga and anime series are still in progress to date. Here is a brief description of the important protagonist characters, Demon Slayers in the storyline so far.
Tanjiro Kamado
Tanjiro Kamado (竈門炭治郎 Kamado Tanjiro) is a boy of kind nature with a strong sense of justice. He is the main protagonist of the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) series.
Tanjiro is described as having gentle eyes by multiple characters. Sporting ruffled black hair with a tinge of burgundy at the end and a prominent scar on the left side of his forehead. His father, Tanjuro Kamado passed away due to illness, leaving behind his wife and six children. As the eldest son of the Kamado family, and the older brother to Nezuko, Tanjiro has responsibility caretaking his younger siblings and mother. The only memoir left by his father are a pair of distinct hanafuda earrings that he is always wearing.
Inosuke Hashibira
Inosuke Hashibira (嘴平伊之助) is a Demon Slayer of the Demon Slayer Corps and one of the traveling companions of Tanjiro Kamado and a main protagonist in the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) series. He was discovered to be the fifth winner of the Final Selection, and the first to make it up and down Fujikasane Mountain before the others. Inosuke has a very short temper and leaps into fights without hesitation, even attacking the box Nezuko hides inside after detecting a Demon inside. In the anime, during the Natagumo Arc, he has a big role in the fight against the Father Spider Demon. He likes to think that he is the best warrior in any situation, confronting most people he meets which tend to lead him into unnecessary danger.
Kanao Tsuyuri
Kanao Tsuyuri (栗花落カナヲ) is a talented young female Demon Slayer in the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) series. One of the five to survive the final selection, she was first introduced as a quiet young girl gazing at a butterfly. She is the adoptive sister of Kanae Kocho and Shinobu Kocho, the former tsuguko of the latter sister.
Zenitsu Agatsuma
Zenitsu Agatsuma (我妻善逸) is usually seen acting like a coward, he has low esteem and sometimes gives up when given a job. He is a Demon Slayer member of the Demon Slayer Corps, one of the main traveling companions of Tanjiro Kamado and one of the main protagonists in the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) series. He faces the Tongue Demon defeating him while he is asleep.
Genya Shinazugawa
Genya Shinazugawa (不死川 玄弥) is one of the Five survivors of the Final Selection and is a Demon Slayer in the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) series. He is the younger brother to the Wind Pillar, named Sanemi Shinazugawa. His circumstance as a Demon Slayer is special in the sense that he has no talent for Breath Styles, but is still able to fight against Demons. His Japanese voice actor is Nobuhiko Okamoto, and in English voiced by Zeno Robinson. His first Manga debut is in Chapter 6, and Episode 4 in the anime series.
Murata
Murata is a low-ranking Demon Slayer that first made an appearance in the Natagumo Mountain Arc in the manga Chapter 28 and anime Episode 15. He is voiced in Japanese by Koki Miyata. His features are bland, unremarkable, with black eyes and straight black hair split in the centre. It is mentioned that his family was killed by Demons before he became a Demon Slayer. Murata is a Total Concentration water breathing user but not to the same degree as Tanjiro. Helping Tanjiro and Inosuke, he struggles with his manipulated comrades, demonstrating his courage in buying time.
Ozaki
Ozaki first makes an appearance in the Natagumo Mountain Arc in Chapter 30 of the manga, and Episode 16 of the anime series. Voiced in Japanese by Hisako Tojo. Ozaki is a thin, brown-eyed young girl wearing her hair in a medium-length ponytail. She is shown to be considerate and selfless, warning fellow Demon Slayers when she was being manipulated not to touch her. Tanjiro, hesitating for a moment, thought of the safest way of immobilizing Ozaki without hurting her. She is a low-ranking Demon Slayer, but has the ability to deal with the demons easily.
Aoi Kanzaki
Aoi Kanzaki (神崎 アオイ) is a Demon Slayer that works as a helper at the butterfly estate rather than the battlefield. She's got deep blue eyes matching her two blue butterfly clips that hold her twintail hair in place. She taught Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke, establishing a demanding regime that often forced them to the brink. She has a strong demeanor resembling a younger Shinobu Kocho, always looking furious. While she often shows sensitive feelings including bursting into tears while thinking about Inosuke's injury demonstrating that she is kind and concerned emotionally. She first makes an appearance in the Functional Recovery Training Arc in Chapter 48 of the manga, and Episode 23 of the anime series voiced by Yuri Ehara.
Sumi Nakahara
Sumi Nakahara is a petite girl with light skin, button-like eyes, wearing her hair in low twintails fastened with blue butterfly clips. She is a servant of the butterfly estate, after having her family killed she was taken in. Appearing in the Functional Recovery Training Arc in Chapter 49 of the manga, and Episode 24 of the anime series voiced by Ayumi Mano.
Kiyo Terauchi
Kiyo Terauchi is a servant of the Butterfly Estate. She was drawn in by Demons after having killed her father. Kiyo is a teenager with light skin and a pair of black eyes, with shoulder length black hair wrapped on each side of her head with two pink butterfly clips. Wearing a long white dress for a nurse, and a pink bow around her waist. She makes her debut in Chapter 48 of the manga, and Episode 23 of the anime.
