Live Action - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)
The Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) Live Action Movie is a stage play that will be released in Tokyo from January 18 till 26th, 2020 and in Hyogo from January 31st till February 2nd, 2020. The live action stage play is based on the Koyoharu Gotouge’s popular ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ (Demon Slayer) manga.
Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) Story
The story is set in the Taisho Period. A young boy Tanjiro Kamado has been supporting his family ever since the death of his father. The Kamado family was living peacefully on a remote mountain. However, this all turned its corner one day when Tanjirou was out in town selling charcoal. The family had been slaughtered by a Demon during his absence and he finds the remains of his family when he gets back. The sole survivor is his sister, Nezuko Kamado, who had been turned into a Demon. This was all caused by a Demon called Muzan Kibutsuji, the first ever Demon and the progenitor of other Demon. A Demon Slayer, Giyu Tomioka, arrives and sends the sibling to go see Sakonji Urokodaki on Mt. Sagiri. Tanjirou swears to avenge his family by becoming a demon slayer and to find a way to turn his sister back.
Characters
Tanjiro Kamado - the main protagonist of the series. One day his family was slaughtered by a Demon and his sister Nezuko had been turned into a Demon. In order to turn his sister back to human, Tanjiro becomes a Demon Slayer and joins the Demon Slayer Corp. He travels around with other Demon Slayer members to complete missions and to find a way to return his sister back.
Nezuko Kamado - Tanjiro’s younger sister who was once an ordinary human girl, but one day turned into a Demon by Muzan Kibutsuji. Even though she is a Demon, she has the ability to survive without consuming human blood. In exchange she must sleep to recover her strength. She travels around with Tanjiro and stays inside a small box during the day to avoid sunlight.
Zenitsu Agatsuma - one of the main protagonists and a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. He completed the Final Selection with Tanjiro and is his traveling companion. He has low self-esteem despite his actual strength and has a cowardly personality. He was trained by a former Thunder Pillar, hence he uses the Breath of Thunder Style.
Inosuke Hashibara - also one of the main protagonists and a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. He passed the same selection as Tanjiro and Zenitsu. He is a short tempered young man who always challenges people and hates losing. He has muscular build and wears a boar headed mask to cover his feminme face. Ever since he was a baby he was raised by boars, hence he uses the Breath of the Beast Style.
Giyu Tomioka - the current Water Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps. The man who encountered Tanjiro and Nezuko after their family was slaughtered. He told Tanjiro to see a man called Sakonji Urokodaki and to become a Demon Slayer in order to find a cure for his sister.
Sakonji Urokodaki - former Water Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps. He is Tanjiro’s Master and taught him the Water Breathing Style.
Sabito - former apprentice of Sakonji Urokodaki. He appeared in front of Tanjiro during his preparation for the Final Selection Exam. He assisted Tanjiro in his training to slice the boulder.
Makomo - former apprentice of Sakonji Urokodaki. Makamo and Sabito were both adopted by Sakonji who trained them to attend the Demon Slayer Corps’s Final Selection.
Shirokami - a guide at the Demon Slayer Corps’s Final Selection.
Kurokami - a guide at the Demon Slayer Corps’s Final Selection.
Tamayo - a skilled doctor who was turned into a Demon by Muzan Kibutsuji. Her impressive medical and pharmaceutical skills allowed her to undo Muzan’s curse and alter her body to survive with a small amount of human blood. Her Blood Demon Arts can create illusions and control other minds. She works with Tanjiro to defeat Muzan and find a way to turn demons back to humans.
Yushiro - a boy who was turned into a demon by Tamayo due to his illness. He is Tamayo’s traveling companion and serves as her assistant and bodyguard. His Blood Demon Art is the Blindfold Technique which allows him to hide or reveal presence.
Muzan Kibutsuji - the main antagonist, leader of the Twelve Demon Moons and progenitor of other Demons. He is the first ever demon and was responsible for slaughtering Tanjirou’s family and turning Nezuko into a demon. He normally disguises himself and lives as an ordinary human.
