About Ochaco Uraraka: Background

Ochaco Uraraka was born into a poor household, and as a result, she finds small joys and becomes excited over little things. She previously has fainted at the sign of spacious luxury. Due to her poor upbringing, she strives to work hard and provide a comfortable life for her family. This is why her unfaltering motivation and pursuit in becoming a hero. However, she does not hide this fact even though she feels embarrassed in admitting it.

Overall, Ochaco is empathetic, kind, but slightly ditzy. Her compassionate nature allows her to read people, understand their thought processes, and recognize when they feel down. For example, she was one of the first people to realize that Tsuyu Asui was upset. She also gets along with all of her classmates.

About Ochaco Uraraka: Abilities

Ochaco's Quirk is called Zero Gravity. Her Quirk allows her targets to float up and lose their footing. This heavily disinhibits her opponent's fighting capabilities. Her Quirk can be used to remove the gravity of objects. For example, if she removes the gravity on projectile attacks or removes the weight of heavy structures, they can be used as a weapon. She can also use it to remove her weight and increase her speed. It is a tactic that is very useful in battle. As a result, her main method of attack is getting close to her opponents to use her Quirk on them.

Initially, Ochaco does not start as a strong fighter. However, as the series progresses, she drastically improves. She never was a bad fighter, to begin with, as she was in 3rd place in the U.A. Entrance Test. It was a matter of her potential being unleashed. Improvements in her fighting skill are especially notable when she fights against Katsuki Bakugo, one of the strongest students. Despite knowing Katsuki's abilities exceed her, she does not give up and manages to surprise Katsuki and get him to use his full power on her.

Under Gunhead, she has received training in martial arts. This allows her to attack efficiently in close range and use her Quirk more effectively. In addition, her intense training has allowed her to obtain different fight styles, which, combined with her Quirk, turns her into a powerful fighter. She also has significantly enhanced stamina due to the intense training.

Ochaco's kind nature has allowed her to be friends with almost everyone. She is particularly close with Izuku Midoriya, Tsuyu Asui, and Tenya Iida in her class.

Deku (Izuku Midoriya)

Deku (Izuku Midoriya) and Ochaco first meet at the entrance exam where Izuku saves Ochaco from being crushed under the zero-point mock robots. The two reunite when they realize they're classmates. Ochaco highly respects Izuku, strives to be like him, and votes for Izuku in the class representative votes. In particular, the two are very protective of each other and are willing to do everything that needs to be done. Izuku notably defends Ochaco from Katsuki Bakugo's accusations, and Ochaco also tries to confront Tomura Shigaraki, who was keeping Izuku hostage.

Tsuyu Asui

Tsuyu Asui is one of Ochaco's closest friends. They call each other by nicknames, which only allows people very close to them. They are willing to endanger themselves to protect one another. The two of them have a support system and will comfort each other when they sense that one of them is feeling down. For example, Ochaco noticed Tsuyu's sadness in hesitating to save Katsuki. They have a strong friendship, but they work exceptionally well together and combine their Quirks to create a Super Move.
