OtapediaMegumin KonoSuba - Nendoroid

KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! is a popular comedy, fantasy, and isekai series that was originally a series of light novels that were written by Natsume Akatsuki and published in 2012. After the series was adapted into an anime series in 2016, however, the franchise gained an incredible amount of popularity for its colorful characters and humorous take on being transported to another world. Out of its cast of main characters, the Explosion-obsessed Arch Wizard Megumin is by far one of the most popular. As such, there is a plethora of merchandise that is based on Megumin's character, with Nendoroids being one of the more notable types of figures that fans can collect. Among these, two Nendoroids stand out: the "Nendoroid KonoSuba 2 Megumin (Re-run)" and the "Nendoroid Swacchao! KonoSuba the Movie: Legend of Crimson Megumin".

Nendoroid KonoSuba 2 Megumin (Re-run)

This recreation of Megumin takes her already petite physique and gives it the super-deformed chibi style that the Nendoroid line is known for. Aside from its impressive amount of articulation in its head, arms, and legs, it also comes with additional parts to help fans pose Megumin in many different ways. Such extra parts include interchangeable arms and legs, her trusty magic staff, an Explosion spell effect part, and eye gleam effect part, and face plates that change her expression from smiling, to embarrassed, to shouting. Other parts like her eyepatch, wizard hat, and cape are also included and can be removed if desired.

Nendoroid Swacchao! KonoSuba the Movie: Legend of Crimson Megumin

This figure looks much like the previous figure, though it is from Nendoroid's Swacchao! series. This series of figures lacks many of the additional parts that regular Nendoroids have and are a bit smaller. In exchange, however, they are even more affordable. The main gimmick of the Swacchao! series is that all of its figures come posed in a sitting position and come with a chair for them to sit in. While the included chair can stand up on its own, its back legs can also be moved to set the figure on the edge of a hard surface like a desk or shelf.

About Megumin

Megumin is the Arch Wizard and the first person to join Kazuma Sato and Aqua's party after they were transported to the fantasy world that KonoSuba takes place in.

About Megumin: Background

Megumin is from the Crimson Demon clan, a group of humans who are all known for their incredible magic proficiency and quirky personalities. Megumin was considered to be exceptionally talented as a magic user and graduated from her village's academy at a young age because of her ability to use advanced magic. After graduating, however, she was often abandoned by any party who let her join, as Megumin is completely and utterly obsessed with the Explosion spell. Rather than using her skill points to improve her stats or other abilities, she simply adds them all to Explosion. The result is Megumin being able to cast an incredibly destructive spell once, and then immediately being unable to move due to running out of mana. Desperate for a meal and a party to join, she ends up responding to Kazuma's request for party members. Since Kazuma and Aqua were desperate themselves, they could not refuse her and allowed her to join.

About Megumin: Abilities

As a Crimson Demon, Megumin has incredibly high intelligence and proficiency with magic. In fact, she has the highest intelligence in her party. This causes Megumin to have a naturally high amount of mana and the capability to cast a wide range of complex and powerful spells. However, her obsession with Explosion magic means that Megumin never develops any of her stats or other skills, making Explosion the only notable skill in her arsenal. The end result is a powerful mage with a single devastating spell that can be used before being rendered completely immobile.

Other Important KonoSuba Characters

Among the other characters in KonoSuba, two of the most important would be Kazuma Sato and Aqua.

Kazuma Sato

Kazuma Sato is the protagonist of KonoSuba and the leader of his party. He was once a shut-in from Japan who unexpectedly died from shock in an attempt to save someone from what he thought was a car accident. After waking up once again, he is greeted by Aqua, a goddess who offers him the chance to be transported to a fantasy world to defeat the Demon Lord. Aqua was quick to berate Kazuma for his rather pathetic death and, in retaliation, Kazuma forced Aqua to join him on his quest. Although he often has a cynical and sarcastic personality, his knowledge and experience with games in his previous life prove useful in this fantasy world of skills and magic.

Aqua

Aqua is a goddess of water and one of the gods who were responsible for sending people to other worlds to prevent the Demon Lord from taking over. As a goddess, she was used to living a life of luxury. This life was quickly brought to an end after Kazuma forced her to join him on his quest to defeat the Demon Lord. Although Aqua is generally cheerful and proud, her peers often see her as impulsive, childish, and problematic. That said, her abilities as an Arch Priest make her invaluable to Kazuma's party, as she can heal, resurrect, and purify with ease.
