Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, or DanMachi for short, began circulation as a light novel in 2013. The series exploded in popularity, earning a manga adaptation later that year and an anime in 2015. Since then, the series has earned praise from fans and critics alike, particularly for the genuine, warm relationship between Bell Cranel and Hestia. Hestia in particular became a massive hit, dominating convention cosplays in the late 2010s. She appears in most of the series' promotional material and boasts the most merchandise appearance. Hestia's popularity earned her several figure appearances from Good Smile Company, including "Nendoroid Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Hestia (Re-run)".

The energetic "Loli Goddess" from DanMachi joins the Nendoroid line. Hestia's instantly recognizable costume shows off her new chibi proportions, faithfully recreated with delicate sculpting. About Hestia

Hestia is one of the main female characters in the DanMachi media franchise. She is the goddess and head of the Hestia familia. Due to her popularity, many fans and critics consider Hestia the breakout character from the anime.

About Hestia: Background

Before the story, Hestia was one of the gods entrusted with guarding the sacred flame in Heaven. After traveling to the Lower World, she stayed with her friend Hephaestus and her familia. Eventually, Hestia attempted to form her own familia but failed to attract any recruits. She encounters Bell Cranel fresh after his own rejections to join a familia. Together, they officially create the Hestia family with Bell as Hestia's first dependent.

Hestia is a kind, yet energetic and passionate goddess. Her intense feelings lead to great determination, as seen through her attempts at starting a familia. She is kind to everyone despite their flaws. However, the other gods often tease her for her childish behavior and naivety. Hestia's more immature traits come out regarding her feelings toward Bell. Her fantasies about starting a relationship with him make her extremely jealous of his relationship with other women, particularly Ais Wallenstein.

About Hestia: Abilities

As a goddess, Hestia limited her powers when choosing to reside in the Lower World. However, she still retains certain abilities. As the guardian of the sacred flame, she retains some ability to manipulate hearths and flames. This power is limited in the lower world and Hestia requires an altar and other manifesting aids to invoke it. Hestia also retains her benefits as one of the three Virgin Goddesses. As a virgin goddess, Hestia can resist the charms of the goddess of beauty and other ploys of temptation. These powers combined make her a formidable goddess.

Hestia also possesses worldly skills, such as a strong work ethic. She works two part-time jobs to support Bell on his adventures and provide for the Hestia Familia. Hestia is also very perceptive. Several times throughout the series, she instantly recognizes characters in disguise or acting under false pretense. Her greatest strength is possibly the love and affection she has for all members of the Hestia Familia, who she treats like family.

Other Important Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Characters

DanMachi has an immense cast of characters from different fantasy races. However, most of the main cast consists of human adventurers, much like the series protagonist and his idol.

Bell Cranel

Bell Cranel is the main character of the DanMachi series. He is a 14-year-old boy and begins the series looking to join a familia and become an adventurer. After meeting Hestia by chance, he becomes the first member of her familia. While he is kind, brave, and aspires to become a proper hero, his initial goals in adventuring were less pure. He hoped to pick up girls by impressing them with his feats and form his own harem. After meeting Ais, his goals shift toward becoming an honorable hero. He is comically unaware of Hestia's romantic feelings for him.

Ais Wallenstein

Ais Wallenstein is a major character in DanMachi with her own spin-off manga. She is a first-class adventurer and master swordsman aligned with the Loki Familia. Outwardly quiet, Ais gained a reputation as a mysterious, stoic warrior. In actuality, she struggles with expressing her emotions and communicating with others. In her inner dialogue, Ais often pictures herself as a child, reflecting her rather naive worldview. She saves Bell from a minotaur attack, causing him to fall in love with her. In turn, Bell's inexperience and purity reminded her of her past self, sparking her emotional growth.
