OtapediaSesshomaru Inuyasha - Nendoroid

Among Rumiko Takahashi's impressive list of works, Inuyasha is one of her most popular and well-known. Ever since the series was first serialized in November 1996, it has become one of the classics and a must-enjoy for anyone interested in anime or manga. The series' popularity skyrocketed even more after its anime adaptation began airing in 2000, which brought even more attention from fans around the world. With this, a wide range of merchandise based on characters from Inuyasha were manufactured, with one of the most popular forms being figures of fan-favorites like Kagome Higurashi, Kikyo, Inuyasha, and Sesshomaru. With his long-standing rivalry with Inuyasha, Sesshomaru became particularly popular among fans. As such, he would go on to join Good Smile Company's Nendoroid line of figures with the release of the "Nendoroid Inuyasha Sesshomaru" in June 2021.

Nendoroid Inuyasha Sesshomaru

This recreation of Sesshomaru takes his devilishly handsome appearance and turns it into an adorably cute figure. Despite his chibi looks, each detail is carefully crafted to make his figure as accurate as possible. Everything from his long, snow-white hair, to the purple markings on his face, to his iconic kimono. Of course, this Nendoroid also includes several accessories to help owners recreate some of Sesshomaru's signature poses and attacks. Such pieces include his unique swords, Tenseiga, Tokijin, and Bakusaiga, as well as several arms and leg parts to recreate Sesshomaru's poison claws. This set also comes with two extra face plates to change his expression from a neutral stare to a stern combat expression, to a sideward-facing glance.

About Sesshomaru

Sesshomaru is the half-brother of Inuyasha and often acts as a rival character to its protagonist, as Sesshomaru continuously tries to take Inuyasha's Tessaiga from him for most of the Inuyasha series.

About Sesshomaru: Backstory

Sesshomaru is the eldest son of the dog daiyokai, Toga, and an unnamed dog yokai mother. Although Inuyasha is also Toga's son, his mother was a human, making him a half-yokai, unlike Sesshomaru. Perhaps due in part to his powerful lineage, Sesshomaru was born with extraordinary power, eventually causing him to grow up into a calm and composed, yet proud and haughty character. Unlike his brother, Sesshomaru had no desire to obtain the Sacred Jewel and often traveled on his own. His biggest desire was to wield his father's Tessaiga, which was left to Inuyasha. Sesshomaru had only the utmost respect for his father Toga, but Toga's decision to leave Tessaiga with Inuyasha left Sesshomaru resentful and angry, resulting in the bitter rivalry between the two brothers.

About Sesshomaru: Abilities

As a full-blooded dog daiyokai, Sesshomaru has power that most yokai can only dream of accomplishing. This power would certainly be enough to overwhelm Inuyasha in a one-on-one battle, though Inuyasha's Tessaiga often gave Inuyasha a bit of an advantage. In addition to his raw power, Sesshomaru also has multiple unique abilities and attacks that make him even more formidable. Such examples include his Poison Luster Claw, Light Whip, and his ability to transform into his dog yokai form at will, though he rarely uses it. Other notable abilities include his heightened sense of smell, regeneration, longevity, flight, and an immunity to cold.

Other Important Inuyasha Characters

In the Inuyasha series, the long-standing rivalry between Sesshomaru and Inuyasha is a major theme throughout the series. In addition, since Kagome Higurashi is traveling along with Inuyasha, she also encounters Sesshomaru quite frequently.

Inuyasha

Inuyasha is the half-yokai son of Toga, a dog daiyokai with an unusual fondness for humans. Since Inuyasha's mother was a human, he was born with less power and yokai abilities than Sesshomaru. This led Inuyasha to search for the Sacred Jewel in the hopes of using it to turn himself into a full-blooded yokai. His search eventually led him to Kikyo, the priestess in charge of protecting the Sacred Jewel from yokai and humans who intended to use it for personal gain. Kikyo managed to defeat Inuyasha without much issue, though she never dealt a finishing blow. The two would slowly find a fondness for each other and become lovers. However, another half-yokai named Naraku would pit the two against each other in order to obtain the Sacred Jewel for himself. The result was Kikyo sealing Inuyasha away before succumbing to her own injuries. Many years later, the reincarnation of Kikyo, Kagome Higurashi, would be transported to the past and free Inuyasha.

Kagome Higurashi

At the beginning of Inuyasha, Kagome Higurashi is a middle school student who ends up being transported nearly 500 years into the past via the ancient well on her family's property. Shortly after she comes to, she comes across Inuyasha, who had been sealed to a tree with an arrow fired by Kikyo fifty years ago. After freeing him, Kagome ends up destroying the Sacred Jewel that was taken from her, leading Inuyasha and Kagome to travel together to find all of the shards and repair the Jewel. Kagome is often seen as bossy and stubborn, but she has a strong sense of justice that she follows.
