About Venom Snake: Background
Born in 1932, California, Venom Snake originally served in the Militaires Sans Frontieres and served as a combat medic. From the start, he has been very loyal to Big Boss. His loyalty extended to the point of sacrificing himself to protect Big Boss and threw himself between an exploding bomb and Big Boss. He earns Big Boss’s trust and respect due to these actions, becoming Big Boss’s most trusted lieutenant.
There are two sides to Venom Snake, a dark and caring side. He displays moments of care and compassion to those he battles, on multiple occasions, will choose not to kill them and choose a righteous act of justice. He also shares a close bond with his soldiers and considers them family. However, contrasting his kind nature, he often will show a dark and cold side. On occasion, Venom Snake will kill and hurt others without a second thought. He goes as far as shooting Skull Face and leaves him to die a slow and painful death. However, despite his vengeful side, he often restrains this part of him and exercises compassion on others.
When Venom Snake threw himself in front of the bomb to protect Big Boss, he was in an extensive coma and amputation of his arm. While he is in a coma, Zero decides to turn Venom Snake into a complete body double of Big Boss. It undergoes plastic surgery and hypnotherapy, so Venom Snake himself believes he is the Big Boss.

Venom Snake has been described to be a talented combatant. He was a terrific fighter before plastic surgery and hypnotherapy, making him a body double for Big Boss. His skillset is described as remarkable and, after the hypnotherapy, on par with Big Boss himself. His skill set was so impressive that he could fool everyone and even himself. While he underwent hypnotherapy and plastic surgery, he did not ever receive Big Boss’s genetic material; hence when he turned into a body double, it’s likely his potential was brought out to the maximum.
His talent is especially seen when he successfully defeats Skulls Face’s operatives, Quiet and Burning Man.

Big Boss
Big Boss referred to Venom Snake as the best soldier in the Militaires Sans Frontieres. He also sees Venom Snake as his most trusted lieutenant, especially after seeing Venom Snakes' dedication and loyalty to himself. Big Boss highly trusted Venom Snake, so much that he showed hesitation in using him as his body double. However, even after finding out the truth, Venom Snake shows immense loyalty to Big Boss and continues to be his body double.
Ocelot
Due to hypnotherapy, Ocelot believed that Venom Snake was the real Big Boss. The two first meet outside a hospital, and Ocelot saves him. Ever since the two have been good friends. Ocelot admired Big Boss and favored Big Boss’s opinion over Millers, causing some tension between the two. However, when the hypnotherapy wore off, he respected both Big Boss and Venom Snake and supported their quests and the Diamond Dogs.
