OtapediaKagome Higurashi Inuyasha - Nendoroid

Despite being over two decades since the manga was first published, the Inuyasha series continues to be one of the most popular franchises in the otaku community. The series' popularity spread internationally after the anime adaptation of the manga aired in 2000, which eventually resulted in plenty of merchandise based on the series being produced. Of course, figures based on popular characters like Sesshomaru, Kikyo, and Inuyasha are certainly fan favorites, but one must not forget about the main heroine of the story: Kagome Higurashi. Although she is at times impulsive and lacks self-control, her unwavering desire to do good made her resonate with many readers and viewers alike. As such, Kagome eventually joined Good Smile Company's popular Nendoroid line of figures with the release of the "Nendoroid Inuyasha Kagome Higurashi" figure in 2021.

This adorable, chibi-style recreation of Kagome has her wearing her usual outfit: a sailor uniform with a white and green blouse with a red ribbon, a matching green skirt, and a pair of brown shoes with white socks. The default expression on this figure is a happy smile, this set also includes two other face plates that let one swap her expression. One plate has a determined look while the other has her shouting with a hint of blushing around her nose. These face plates, along with the other interchangeable parts and accessories, allow for a wide range of customization. About Kagome Higurashi

Kagome Higurashi is the reincarnation of the powerful shrine priestess, Kikyo, and the main heroine of Inuyasha.

About Kagome Higurashi: Background

At the beginning of Inuyasha, Kagome is a middle school student who was born in the modern era of Japan. Although her grandfather owns the Higurashi Shrine and is a priest, Kagome herself participated little as a priestess. That said, she quickly finds herself in the world of the supernatural after she is transported around 500 years in the past to the Sengoku era of Japan, which was no stranger to yokai and spells. Although she was confused and disoriented, Kagome stumbled upon Inuyasha, who had been sealed by the legendary priestess Kikyo many years ago. Inuyasha, driven by his desire to obtain the Sacred Jewel held by Kagome, convinces her to free him. This attempt to take the Jewel for himself eventually resulted in Kagome breaking the Jewel into many different pieces, causing the two to travel around the country to rebuild the Jewel once again.

About Kagome Higurashi: Abilities

Not long after Kagome finds herself in the Sengoku period, she learns that she is the reincarnation of Kikyo, a powerful priestess who was the protector of the Sacred Jewel. Because of her connection to both Kikyo and the Jewel, Kagome herself has abilities very similar to Kikyo, which include things like incredible Spiritual Power, spiritual awareness, and purification. In addition, Kagome also shares proficiency with a bow and arrow, though she is not quite as skilled as Kikyo was. Kagome also has the ability to send where shards of the Sacred Jewel are, an ability that is unique to herself and Kikyo. One thing that is fairly unique to Kagome, however, is her ability to travel between the modern and feudal eras of Japan, which allow her to bring things like medicine and other modern tools to the past to solve ailments and problems.

Other Important Inuyasha Characters

Although Kagome comes across many different characters on her journey to collect shards of the Sacred Jewel, two of the most important characters to Kagome are Inuyasha and Kikyo.

Inuyasha

Inuyasha is the titular protagonist of Inuyasha and is a half-yokai. Although one of his main desires in life is to obtain the Sacred Jewel in order to turn himself into a full-blooded yokai, his attempts to take it from Kagome result in it being shattered. As such, Inuyasha joins Kagome in her search to find the shard of the Jewel. As the half-yokai son of the daiyokai Toga, Inuyasha has formidable power but always feels inferior when compared to his full-blooded yokai brother, Sesshomaru. When it comes to Inuyasha's personality, he is often seen as very brash, rude, and, perhaps due to his dog yokai heritage, primal and animalistic at times. His desire for more and more power led him to Kikyo, who guarded the Sacred Jewel. Inuyasha was never successful in taking the Jewel from Kikyo, the two did eventually fall in love with each other. As Inuyasha and Kagome continue traveling with each other Inuyasha and Kagome similarly fall for each other similar to how he did with Kikyo.

Kikyo

Kikyo is an incredibly powerful priestess who was tasked with guarding the Sacred Jewel against yokai and humans that may want to steal it for malicious reasons. As a priestess, Kikyo has incredible spiritual powers and could fend off powerful demons with relative ease. Like many yokai that came before him, Inuyasha also hunted Kikyo so he could take the Sacred Jewel. Although Kikyo could have easily finished off Inuyasha, she spared him several times and the two eventually fell for each other. Another half-yokai named Naraku would take advantage of this relationship and cause the two to turn against each other, resulting in Kikyo sealing Inuyasha and Kikyo's eventual death. That said, an oni would later resurrect Kikyo by using a part of Kagome's soul. Due to the manipulation of Naraku, before she died, Kikyo harbored a newfound hatred for Inuyasha and others in general. In the end, however, Kikyo would become an ally of Kagome and the others and would teach her many valuable things as a priestess.
