Fate Saber of Red Mordred
Saber of Red (Mordred) - Fate
Profile
Mordred is summoned by Kairi Sisigou as his Servant Saber of Red during the Great Holy Grail War in Fate/Apocrypha. She is known as The Knight of Treachery and is King Arthur’s offspring, though he refused to recognize her as such. She is a homunculus clone of Artoria’s created by Artoria and Morgan le Fay. In her past life, she led a rebellion against King Arthur that resulted in both of them sustaining fatal wounds during their fight.
Mordred is very prideful and haughty and is filled with rage over being rejected by her father. She has a tomboyish nature and doesn’t mind wearing revealing clothing. She becomes close with Sisigou, as they are both headstrong and overconfident. Her wish for the Holy Grail is to go back in time and become the rightful heir to the throne by finally being accepted by her father as his heir.
Appearance
Mordred is a young woman with sharp features and blonde hair which she wears in a bun.
Though small in size, she is still intimidating in her armored form, which is so thick it also conceals her gender. When in public she wears a white tube top and crimson leather jacket with short shorts and black boots.
Abilities
Just like all Saber-class Servants, Mordred is exceptional in her abilities as a fighter and Servant. Like King Arthur, she possesses Mana Burst, which allows her to release mana from her body to increase her strength and agility. She is able to leap great distances, and she has superhuman physical strength that is enough to overwhelm fighters much larger than she is. Although a knight, her fighting style is not formal and elegant but rather wild and chaotic. She views swordsmanship not with reverence but as a means to an end, and she has no problem fighting dirty in order to win.
Noble Phantasms
・Secret of Pedigree: Anti-Unit class. Also known as the Helm of Hidden Infidelity. The helmet worn by Mordred that keeps her true identity a secret. The helmet can be removed at will and automatically merges with her armor.
・Clarent: Anti-Unit class. Also known as the Radiant and Brilliant Royal Sword. Mordred’s sword, Clarent is ornately decorated and is equal to King Arthur’s sword, Caliburn, in value.
・Clarent Blood Arthur: Anti-Army class. Also known as Rebellion Against My Beautiful Father. An attack that unleashes the full power of Clarent. Her helmet, Secret of Pedigree, must be removed in order to use this attack.
Role
Mordred is summoned by Kairi Sisigou using a piece of the Round Table as the catalyst to serve as Saber of Red in the Great Holy Grail War. Upon meeting Sisigou, she agrees to work with him to retrieve the Grail and says her wish for obtaining the Grail is to be able to pull Caliburn from its stone and become king, thereby proving her worth to her father, King Arthur. After meeting with the Overseer of the war, Shirou Kotomine, she decides along with Sisigou to go their own way and the two begin acquiring information on the other participants while hiding out in a mausoleum. Before long, they get word from the Mages Association and head to Sighisoara to investigate a string of murders involving mages. Later, they are ambushed by Assassin of Black (Jack the Ripper), the culprit behind the murders, and Mordred is able to wound her before she retreats.
Getting word that fighting between the factions has started, they head back to Trifas to take part. Mordred battles against Rider of Black (Astolfo), but Sieg intervenes and she kills him. She also faces off against Berserker of Black (Frankenstein’s monster) and is able to survive her Noble Phantasm, Blasted Tree. After Sieg returns to life as Siegfried she battles him as well, but their fight is cut short by the arrival of Spartacus, whom she cuts in half. Later, she kills Astolfo’s Master, Celenike Icecolle Yggdmillennia, after she annoys her. Once Shirou’s plan becomes clear, she and Sisigou join forces with the remaining members of the Yggdmillennia and their Servants to stop him.
However, during the assault on the Hanging Gardens, Sisigou and Mordred carry out their own plan in secret to try and steal the Grail for themselves. They arrive at the throne room and Mordred battles Assassin of Red (Semiramis) but is weakened by the poison from her Noble Phantasm, with help from Sisigou she is cured of the poison and is able to defeat Semiramis, but in the process Sisigou gets mortally wounded. Instead of finding another Master to prolong her life, she chooses to remain loyal to Sisigou until the end and vanishes shortly after his death.
