A Look at Rider Figures - Fate
A Look at Rider (Fate) Figures
Francis Drake. Astolfo. Iskandar. Ozymandias. Achilles. These are just a few of the legendary Rider-class Servants that have been added to the Fate franchise over the years. They are characters known to control powerful mounts, either mythical or mechanical. And some of the more popular Rider Servants have been immortalized as collectible figures. And of those, a select few are so popular that several figures have been made to celebrate their charm in three dimensions, giving fans plenty of occasions to demonstrate their love. These days, if you search “Fate Rider figure” on TOM Shop, your search result will mostly be populated with Astolfo figures. But in this article, we want to give equal love to the different characters holding the title Rider that have been sculpted. So let’s take a gander at some notable collectibles!
figma Fate/Apocrypha Rider of Black
Our list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning at least one Astolfo figure. The figma of Astolfo AKA Rider of Black is an excellent choice for a number of reasons. First, there’s Astolfo’s cape. It’s made of a flexible material that allows you to capture Astolfo wearing it in all kinds of poses. You can have the cape flow down to show Astolfo simply standing, or you can have the cape wave as Astolfo is lunging into battle! The cape also boats a really soft material used to simulate the fur of the collar. Another great feature of this figure is the inclusion of three different face plates. Two faceplates really capture Rider’s cheerful side, as he makes open-mouth smiles. The third one is a much more intense face that makes more sense when caught in the heat of battle against enemy figmas like Saber of Red. The other great thing about this figure is something most figma have in common - extreme poseability. Astolfo is such an animated character, so being able to pose him in countless ways is a real plus that scale Astolfo figures don’t possess. In fact, you can probably pose the figma of Astolfo in every pose of every figure of him released. We think that’s pretty rad. Don’t you agree?
Fate/Grand Order Rider/Altria Pendragon: Alter 1/7 Scale Figure
Artoria, what in the world is going on with you here?! Someone might ask that when first seeing this figure. So allow us to give you a little background. Artoria Pendragon here is a rendition of her as a Rider-class Servant during Fate/Grand Order’s summer swimsuit event. Thank goodness for that swimsuit event. She takes her disguise as a maid seriously, and is even nicknamed Demonic Chief Maid, or Maid Alter. She’s a Rider Servant that will kick your ass with a pistol. Yay! A modern weapon for Saber Alter, err…we mean Rider! We love how it has the same pattern on it as Saber Alter’s sword. She will also kick your ass with a mop. A mop?! Yes, a mop. As far as we know, she’s the only Servant that rocks a mop. But just look at that expression on her face. You can tell from that look that she really can kill you with a cleaning tool.
There’s a lot to love about this figure. She’s a non-articulated scale figure, but she’s actually versatile. You can have her with a jacket on or off, and by the way she wears that jacket on one shoulder, we can’t really decide which look is sexier. The braids on Rider’s head are very detailed, and her overall pose (with or without the mop) is just super sexy. Really, sexy is the perfect word to describe her. She’s actually still up for pre-order releasing later this year, so you still have a chance to grab her and add one of the hottest looking Fate figures ever made to your collection!
Fate/Grand Order Rider/Marie Antoinette 1/7 Scale Figure
And here we have arguably the cutest Rider outfit ever created. Definitely the most scrumptious looking. The concept behind Marie Antoinette is an “Idol Queen.” You really get the feeling that she’s some kind of futuristic Japanese pop idol by looking at her outfit. Certainly wouldn’t mistake her for the real life Marie Antoinette if you were unfamiliar with this character or the way that Fate redesigns historical figures. We love the way her hair and the tails on the back of her shirt are similar in length, color, and the way they flow. Fun fact: this is Marie Antoinette in her 1st Ascension form in Fate/Grand Order We actually prefer this form for her figure over the 3rd Ascension. The 3rd Ascension utilizes way too much white. We love the hot red in her outfit here. Nearly stealing the spotlight is Marie’s hat! It makes her look like she’s in a giant mushroom or strawberry cosplay. We had to look up to see if her hat had any special abilities. It was so big, we wondered if it was a Noble Phantasm. Nope. It’s just an adorable accessory to her look. A happy hat for a happy character!
