History

Despite being the son of a king’s daughter Kunti and the sun god Surya, Karna grew up in a low social class because he was abandoned by his mother. This caused behavioral problems including violence and a lack of emotional understanding and feelings within him. He didn’t hold hatred for his mother however, but for himself as many children of such neglect think that their parent’s treatment must be their fault and justified. He was a smart child and despite his troubles didn’t want to bring shame to his parents or foster father. In his adolescence he was befriended by a prince of the Kaurava Clan who made him a king after he was ridiculed for wanting to participate in a show of his martial art skills with the five Pandava brothers but was turned away for not being in a high enough class. Karna died in the Kurukshetra War which foes included the five Pandava brothers though he only would fight Arjuna his greatest enemy because of a request made by his mother. When his armor was taken which was in his flesh, he returned to fight on the battlefield as a ghostly form. Karna was killed by Arjuna, his younger brother, but he did not die bitterly.

Appearance

Lancer of Red Karna has been said to have a visual kei inspired appearance. He has pale skin, long messy white hair that is said to be nearly translucent, and teal eyes that give piercing glares. His Kavacha and Kundala: O' Sun, Become Armor include body armor and earrings that are a brilliant gold. The rest of his outfit is form fitting black material. Depending on the series (and stage) his appearance differs which changes include a spiked choker, red gem on his chest inlaid in a golden circle, shoulder armor with long spikes, a revealing of his chest which a red gem and gold stones are inlaid, a flaming cape, and more. His hair is also sometimes fiery red.

Personality

He is an extremely obedient Servant to the point that defying his Master isn’t even a thought that is entertained in his mind at all. His incredibly loyal heart led him to only care about honoring his father until he died, so he didn’t care much about other things which left him seemingly cold or cruel. He has an incredibly strong will that adds to his incredible fighting abilities. He also was known not to interfere in things because he felt neutral about most things. He never had his own wish for the Holy Grail. A time when he showed interest in more than just serving his Master was when he fought Saber of Black Siegfried who he felt shared similar experiences as him. His thoughts while fighting were “We are both Heroic Spirits... madmen who walked our respective paths unto the bitter end even as we continued to fight. Not even gaining a second life and taking form in the present era will change our faith!”

Abilities

He fights with the Noble Phantasms listed below as well as has the Discernment of the Poor skill. Though his combat skills are top tier they require an enormous amount of mana. He also has the highest Divinity aptitude. He is very strong which is what powers a lot of the damage behind his spear attacks even without being activated as a Noble Phantasm. In combat, one of his Noble Phantasms called Kavacha and Kundala: O' Sun, Become Armor greatly protects him from damage by cutting it into a measly 1/10 of its strength leaving such a small amount he can heal it mid-battle. Additional skills include Mana Burst (Flames), Magic Resistance, Riding, and Uncrowned Martial Arts.

Noble Phantasm

Lancer of Red Karna has used several Noble Phantasm throughout the several series he appears in. These include the Anti-Unit (Self) Kavacha and Kundala: O' Sun, Become Armor which is imbued in his body, is said to radiate the sun itself, and reduces damage to 1/10 of its amount; the Anti-Demon Brahmastra: Rakshasa-Piercing Immortal; the Anti Army and Anti-Country Brahmastra: O' Brahma, Cover the Earth; the Anti-Country Brahmastra Kundala: O' Brahma, Curse Me which a projectile that deals massive damage from the combination of it with his Mana Burst (Flames) Skill and is considered his ultimate move; and the Anti-Divine Vasavi Shakti: O' Sun, Abide to Death which is a massive divine spear which can even kill a god.

Karna, also known as Son of the Sun God and Hero of Charity appears in Chibichuki!, Capsule Servant, Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Extella / Link, Fate/Extra CCC, Fate/Extra CCC Foxtail, and Fate/Grand Order. He is a Lancer-class Servant and Heroic Spirit. In the Great Holy Grail War his Master was Shirou Kotomine. In the Grand Order War his Master was Ritsuka Fujimaru. In the Moon Holy Grail War of Fate/Extra CCC his Master was Jinako Carigiri. In the Moon Holy Grail War of Fate/Extella his master was Hakuno Kishinami. He is said to be one one of Kinoko Nasu’s favorite characters.
