Synopsis

Rai is a powerful Noble with the special title of Noblesse - a pure-blooded Noble who protects other Nobles. He wakes up from a 820-year-long sleep to find that his servant Frankenstein has enrolled him in high school, and thus begins his new life as a student in the modern age. However, behind the scenes a secret society called the Union is plotting to take over the world, and Rai soon finds himself living anything but a typical high school life when he must wield his power as Noblesse to protect those around him.

Background

Noblesse is a South Korean manhwa written by Son Jae Ho and illustrated by Lee Gwang Su. It was released as a webtoon on the platform Naver Webtoon in December 2007 and concluded in January 2019. It has been adapted into an anime in South Korea in 2015 and an ONA in 2016.

The series’ first Japanese anime adaptation was announced at Comic Con Seoul in August 2019. It is produced by Production I.G with Shunsuke Tada as the chief director, Yasutaka Yamamoto as the director, Sayaka Harada as the series composer, Akiharu Ishii as the character designer, and Shun Narita and Yoshihiro Ike composing the music. It premiered on Crunchyroll on Oct. 7, 2020.

Cadis Etrama di Raizel (Voiced by: Tarusuke Shingaki)
Cadis, better known as Rai, is a powerful Noblesse and protector who has been asleep for 820 years. He wakes up and begins living as a high school student while growing accustomed to the modern world. He is good looking and kind to those around him.

Frankenstein (Voiced by: Daisuke Hirakawa)
Frankenstein is the director of Ye Ran High School and Rai’s humble servant. He looks up to Rai as his master and supports him whole-heartedly.

M-21 (Voiced by: Kosuke Onishi)
An experimental body of the secret society Union. He has superpowers granted through experiments but doesn’t have complete control over them. Despite his scars, he is good looking and popular with the lades.

Regis K. Landegre (Voiced by: Akihisa Wakayama)
Regis is a Noble and the successor of the Landegre family. Although conservative and hard to please, he emphasizes dignity and is polite and social with others.

Seira J. Loyard (Voiced by: Ai Kayano)
Seira is a Noble and the head of the Loyard family. She is a beautiful girl with silver hair and red eyes. She is usually quiet and expressionless.

Tao (Voiced by: Masatomo Nakazawa)
A cyborg and member of the secret society Union, Tao specializes in information gathering and hacking. He has a friendly and sociable personality.

Takio (Voiced by: Takeo Otsuka)
A cyborg and member of the secret society Union, Takio is tall and has long purple hair. He is a skilled long-range sniper and can hit a target even several kilometers away. He looks tough on the outside, but inside he is kind and loves children.

Yusuke Tashiro (Voiced by: Ryota Iwasaki)
Rai’s classmate, Yusuke is a passionate young man with quick reflexes and a strong sense of justice. His trademark is the bandage on his nose.

Manabu Kase (Voiced by: Youhei Hamada)
Rai’s classmate and Yusuke’s friend, Manabu is skilled in the field of IT.

Kranz (Voiced by: Jun Kasama)
A member of the secret society Union, Kranz is the leader of Special Forces DA-5. He is fiercely loyal to Union and highly prideful.

Shark (Voiced by: Katsumi Fukuhara)
A member of the secret society Union, Shark excels at close-quarters combat and is proficient with knives. He is a soldier with a bloodthirsty, arrogant personality. He gets along well with Hammer.

Hammer (Voiced by: Hiroki Yamada)
A member of the secret society Union, Hammer is an explosives specialist and is skilled at the use of both firearms and bombs. He has a mohawk and loves to eat.
