Synopsis

Inumael and Leocadio are two young men living in the Warheit Empire, where a plan is underway to relocate the capital. Inumael is a timid carrier worker and Leocadio is a naive soldier new to the empire. One thinks about his beloved sister, while the other thinks about advancing his career as a soldier. However, the empire has been killing off creatures from the world and it is predicted that such action will lead to the return of the disastrous “light” that released countless monsters into the world the last time it appeared. Oblivious to the future that awaits them, Inumael and Leocadio meet by chance during a smuggling incident, changing the course of history for themselves and the empire.

Background

Magatsu Wahrheit is a mobile MMORPG developed and published by KLab Games that was released for Android and iOS in April 2019. The game has been licensed by Mobimon for a global release in October 2020.

The anime adaptation titled Magatsu Wahrheit: Zuerst was announced in March 2018. It is produced by Yokohama Animation Lab and features Naoto Hosoda as director, Naoto Hosoda and Yuichiro Momose as the series composers, Naoto Hosoda and Yuichiro Momose as the scriptwriters, Akiko Sugizono as the character designer, and Masaru Yokoyama as the music composer. It premiered in Japan on Oct. 13, 2020 on Tokyo MX and BS11. It is being streamed in North America and the British Isles through Funimation.

Characters

Inumael Growner (Voiced by: Atsushi Abe)
A young man in the transportation industry, Inumael is a good-natured, friendly person who is called “dog” by his coworkers. He loves his little sister, Shisel, who lives with their parents. His fate changes when he gets involved with smuggling.

Leocadio Weller (Voiced by: Yuki Ono)
A serious man belonging to the 08th Platoon of the Wahrheit Imperial Army with the rank of Private, Leocadio lives in the city along with his childhood friend Seitz.

Shake Gudheil (Voiced by: Yumiri Hanamori)
A member of the smuggling organization Headkeeper, Shake is a mage and the only female on Arnold’s team. Though she isn’t very friendly, she has an ojou-sama personality.

Elfriede (Voiced by: Yukiyo Fujii)
A member of the smuggling organization Headkeeper, Elfriede infiltrates the city to carry out information gathering alone. In public he acts cool but when alone he has a disappointing personality.

Hermann (Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda)
The captain of the 08th Platoon of the Wahrheit Imperial Army, Hermann is a cheerful man who is always smiling. He is proficient with a sword and magic. Although he has a polite tone and soft demeanor, his true intentions are unknown.

Arnold (Voiced by: Kenichiro Matsuda)
A member of the smuggling organization Headkeeper, Arnold is a responsible and cautious team leader. He carries out the smuggling job involving Inumael.

Benjamin (Voiced by: Junichi Yanagita)
Benjamin is a member of the smuggling organization Headkeeper and a part of Arnold’s team. Because of being a worrywort, he is cautious to give his opinion. His peers call him Ben.

Klaus (Voiced by: Ryota Suzuki)
Klaus is a member of the smuggling organization Headkeeper and a part of Arnold’s team. He is a smooth talker who takes a liking to Shake.

Conrad Wisdom (Voiced by: Kazuyuki Okitsu)
Conrad is a soldier in the 08th Platoon of the Wahrheit Imperial Army with the rank of Private First-Class. He works together with his senior, Leocadio, and is close friends with Seitz. He seems to be a bit of an airhead at first glance but is actually quite sharp.

Fritz (Voiced by: Tarusuke Shingaki)
Fritz is a messenger of the smuggling organization Headkeeper who helps guide Arnold’s team and exchanges information with Elfriede. His rule is to remain faithful to the mission and not fail.

Seitz (Voiced by: Takuya Sato)
Seitz is a young man belonging to the 08th Platoon of the Wahrheit Imperial Army. He lives in the city together with his childhood friend Leocadio and his three siblings. He enjoys taking care of others.

Damian (Voiced by: Taishi Murata)
A member of Headkeeper, Damian serves as a go-between.

Shisel (Voiced by: Aya Yamane)
Shisel is Inumael’s younger sister.

Marie (Voiced by: Masako Katsuki)
Marie is a woman who works as a member of the Imperial Diet.
Professor Radovaud (Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi)
Professor Radovaud is a scientist who conducts extensive research in the city.

Jade (Voiced by: Minoru Shiraishi)
Jade is the head of the Gutheil brange of Headkeeper.

Lotus (Voiced by: Shinya Takahashi)
Lotus is Shake’s father and a noble in Gutheil.

Ilma (Voiced by: Maria Naganawa)
Ilma is a member of the imperial branch of Headkeeper.

Faust is a young researcher belonging to the imperial’s pharmaceutical division.
