Synopsis

After having his village destroyed and family and heart stolen by a red dragon, Ethan is resurrected as an Arisen and sets off on a quest for revenge. But the more demons he kills, the further he feels his humanity is slipping away.

Background

Dragon's Dogma is an open-world action RPG from Capcom that was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. An enhanced version titled Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen was released the following year and later ported to Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

The anime adaptation was announced by Netflix in March 2019. It is produced by Sublimation with Shin'ya Sugai (Shikizakura, Walking Meat) directing, Kurasumi Sunayama (A3! Season Spring & Summer, Cardfight!! Vanguard) writing the script, Iku Nishimura Eden of the East: Paradise Lost, Napping Princess) designing the characters, and Taiki Sakurai credited as the executive producer. The anime was released through Netflix worldwide on Sep. 17, 2020.

Hannah (Voiced by: Nana Mizuki)
Hannah joins Ethan on his quest and befriends him.

Olivia (Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro)
Ethan’s wife whom he loves with all of his heart. She was wrapped in the Dragon’s fire breath when it attacked their village.

Louis (Voiced by: Yuko Sanpei)
Ethan and Olivia’s son. He was swallowed by the Dragon when it attacked their village.

Salai (Voiced by: Suzuko Mimori)
Salai is a girl saved by Ethan and the others when she was offered as a sacrifice to a cyclops.

Elizabeth (Voiced by: Ayumi Tsunematsu)
Theo’s wife. She is saved by Ethan and the others from a goblin attack.

Theo (Voiced by: Kazuyuki Okitsu)
Elizabeth’s husband. He is arrogant and cowardly.

Balthazar (Voiced by: Keiichi Nakagawa)
Balthazar is a soldier who guards Theo and Elizabeth. He comes from a poor family and has a calm, cautious personality.

Simon (Voiced by: Satoshi Tsuruoka)
Simon is a soldier and Balthazar’s childhood friend. He has a talkative and cheerful personality.

The Dragon (Voiced by: Takayuki Sugo)
A red dragon that takes everything from Ethan.
