Synopsis
In the wake of losing one-third of humanity due to World War III, the Japanese government is overthrown by the Party of Words, who separate the people into Divisions and give them Hypnosis Mics with which to settle disputes and fight for their territory.
Background
Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- is a multimedia project by King Records under their Evil Line Records label. Since its debut in 2017, the series has been adapted into several manga including Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle -Before the Battle- The Dirty Dawg, Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- Side B.B & M.T.C, Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- side F.P & M, and Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- Side D.H & B.A.T as well as stage plays, a video game titled Hypnosis Mic: Alternative Rap Battle, and an anime adaptation titled Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima.
Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima was announced in December 2019. The anime is produced by A-1 Pictures with Katsumi Ono directing, Shin Yoshida writing the script, Minako Shiba designing the characters, and R.O.N composing the music. It was originally set to air beginning in July 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It premiered on Oct. 2 in Japan on Tokyo MX, BS11, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and MBS. It will run for 13 episodes and is available to stream in North America through Funimation.

Ichiro is a former member of The Dirty Dawg and the eldest of the Yamada brothers. He is also the leader of Buster Bros!!! He is well-liked by others due to his caring nature and he is an otaku who likes watching anime and reading the latest light novels.
Jiro Yamada (Voiced by: Haruki Ishiya)
MC Name: MC.M.B
Jiro is the second eldest Yamada brother. Due to growing up in Ichiro’s shadow, he rebels and becomes a bad boy. He is always squabbling with his younger brother, Saburo.
Saburo Yamada (Voiced by: Kohei Amasaki)
MC Name: MC.L.B
Saburo is the youngest of the Yamada brothers and is a genius who can handle anything. However, he has few friends due to his warped personality. He is a fan of board games and card games and is always looking for others to play with him.

Samatoki Aohitsugi (Voiced by: Shintaro Asanuma)
MC Name: Mr.Hc
Samatoki is a former member of The Dirty Dawg and a yakuza member in the Yokohama area. He is 25 years old and the leader of Mad Trigger Crew. He always looks upset and is always ready to fight.
Jyuto Iruma (Voiced by: Wataru Komada)
MC Name: 45 Rabbit
Jyuto is a 29-year-old dirty cop who commits assault, bribery, embezzlement, extortion, and more. He often acts as a coordinator for the Yokohama Division.
Rio Mason Busujima (Voiced by: Shinichiro Kamio)
MC Name: Crazy M
Rio is a former Navy Sergeant First Class who still acts like a soldier and shows his enemies no mercy. He is 28 years old and has an American father and Japanese mother. He is usually calm and likes to help others.

MC Name: easy R
Ramuda is a former member of The Dirty Dawg and a fashion designer. Though he is 24 years old, he looks innocent and child-like and is popular with others. He is the leader of Fling Posse.
Gentaro Yumeno (Voiced by: Soma Saito)
MC Name: Phantom
Gentaro is a 24-year-old writer who looks like a scholarly student. His hobby is imagining the lives of passersby.
Dice Arisugawa (Voiced by: Yukihiro Nozuyama)
MC Name: Dead or Alive
Dice is a 20--year-old gambler who bets with money and his own life. He carries dice at all times which he uses to make decisions.

Jakurai Jinguji (Voiced by: Show Hayami)

Jakurai is a former member of The Dirty Dawg and is a genius doctor. He is 35 years old and the leader of Matenro. He is tall, thin, and has a mysterious air.
Hifumi Izanami (Voiced by: Ryuichi Kijima)
MC Name: GIGOLO
Hifumi is a 29-year-old host who is a sweet talker despite having a fear of women. He became a host to try and overcome his phobia.
Doppo Kannonzaka (Voiced by: Kento Ito)
MC Name: DOPPO
Doppo is a 29-year-old salaryman who works for a medical equipment company. He is a pessimist who has few friends due to thinking negatively about everything.
Chu-Oh-Ku
Otome Tohoten (Voiced by: Yu Kobayashi)
Otome is the 49-year-old prime minister and leader of the Party of Words.
Ichijiku Kadenokoji (Voiced by: Chiaki Takahashi)
Ichijiku is the 31-year-old aide to the prime minister and is the superintendent general of the Metropolitan Police Department and the director of the Administrative Inspection Bureau. She is also a member of the Party of Words.
Nemu Aohitsugi (Voiced by: Nozomi Yamamoto)
Nemu is a 19-year-old member of the Party of Words and is the deputy director of the Administrative Inspection Bureau.
