Ikebukuro West Gate Park video 1

Alternate Title

Makoto is a 20-year-old son of a fruit vendor living in crime-ridden Ikebukuro which is home to violent gangs and the yakuza. In order to protect his friends, he relies on his charisma to solve problems and disputes among the warring factions, often getting himself into dangerous situations against his better judgment. Along with his friends Shun, Masa, and Takashi, can he stop the rising tide of violence?

Ikebukuro West Gate Park, often abbreviated IWGP, began as a series of urban mystery novels by Ira Ishida. The series has been adapted into a live-action TV drama series as well as several manga. The anime adaptation was first announced in December 2019. It is being directed by Tomoaki Koshida at Doga Kobo and features series composition by Fumihiko Shimo, character designs by Junichiro Taniguchi, and music by Daijiro Nakagawa and Ryuuichi Takada. The series was originally scheduled to premiere in July 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The anime will now premiere in Japan on Oct. 6 on AT-X and Tokyo MX. It will be streamed in North America by Funimation.
