About the Artist

The theme of DECO*27's songs often revolve around love. He explores this theme by writing songs about love for family, friends, and self-love, while also writing about lovers. His lyrics often involve growing into adulthood, to which many fans say they can relate, and his music incorporates elements of folk and electronica.

The name DECO*27 comes from being told he has a large forehead (デコ/deco). 27 is derived from his favorite number 2 and from the lucky number 7. DECO*27 likes the number 2 because compared to first place, second place is a position that appears to be looking up, striving towards new goals. He also wants to look towards the future, while remaining humble at the same time.

Looking to his father for influence, DECO*27 started playing the guitar at the age of 13. He plays a left-handed guitar. In 2007, he was instantly enamored by the Vocaloid song "Packaged" by kz (livetune). In October 2008, he released his first Vocaloid song Boku Mitai na Kimi Kimi Mitai na Boku on Nico Nico Douga. Through his Internet fame, DECO*27 was able to find singers that fit with his style of music. Before this, he could not find anyone that provided vocals to his liking. No fewer than twelve of the songs that DECO*27 has released have been viewed over a million times on Nico Nico Douga and are listed in the Hall of Fame on the platform. The total number of views has exceeded 42 million on Nico Nico Douga.

In April 2010, DECO*27 released his debut album Souaisei Riron (Theory of General Lovativity) which featured his popular songs. In December 2010, he released Aimai Elegy where it reached 7th place in the Oricon Daily charts. In July 2012, while still primarily a Vocaloid producer, he released his 3rd album "Love Calendar" which featured non-Vocaloid vocals from such artists as Aoi Yuki, marina, Shoko Nakagawa, Topi, and even DECO*27 himself.
In December 2013, he released his first Vocaloid compilation album "DECO*27 VOCALOID COLLECTION 2008-2012". In March 2014, DECO*27 released his album Conti New which featured a new style of tuning Hatsune Miku's voice. He stated that it was a "new chapter of my Vocaloid production."

In 2011, Kou Shibasaki had heard DECO*27's Theory of General Lovativity through his staff and reached out to collaborate. Following this, Shibasaki's single Intangible Spirit was remixed by fellow Vocaloid producer and friend TeddyLoid. With all having formed a strong friendship originally through DECO*27's music, they formed a new unit galaxias!. They released their self-titled album in November.
DECO*27 mainly uses Hatsune Miku's voice for his songs. He has also used the Vocaloid Megpoid, her first instance being in a remix of Campanella. In July 2010, he released the song Mosaic Roll featuring Megpoid and it became an instant hit. It is believed to have also affected sales positively for the Megpoid software itself.
Since 2010, he has been active in the band "DECO*27 feat. marina".
In 2019, DECO*27 provided the theme song for SNOW MIKU 2019, titled Ai, アイ which has received over 150,000 views on YouTube. The theme song was played throughout the event on speakers that were placed all across Sapporo.
