takt op. Destiny video 1

Synopsis

Music is the light that illuminates the human heart. But suddenly, that light is stolen from the world. On the night that a black meteorite fell from the sky, the world changed. Deformed monsters called D2 created from the meteorite begin to overrun the land and people. Attracted to the melodies people play, soon the D2 make music itself forbidden. However, there are still those who resist. They are the Musicarts, girls who use music as their power and who carry in them the scores of the greatest operas and compositions in human history, which they use to defeat the D2. Then there are the Conductors, those who guide them.

In the year 2047, America has been devastated by the war against the D2. Conductor Takt, together with his Musicart Destiny, travels to New York City. In a world where music is lost, Takt craves its return and Destiny wishes to annihilate the D2. Will the melody created by these two be one of joy or despair?

Background

takt op. (pronounced "takt opus") is a mixed-media project being produced by Bandai Namco Arts and DeNA. The project will include both a mobile game and TV anime.

The mobile game, titled takt op. Unmei wa Akaki Senritsu no Machi o, is an RPG being developed by Game Studio for Android and iOS. The game will be released sometime in 2021.

The TV anime adaptation, titled takt op. Destiny, is being jointly produced by studios MAPPA (Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2, Granblue Fantasy the Animation, Jujutsu Kaisen) and Madhouse (Black Lagoon, Cardcaptor Sakura, High School of the Dead). It features Yuuki Itoh (Granblue Fantasy the Animation, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid, Vividred Operation) as director with Kiyoko Yoshimura (Cardfight!! Vanguard G, A Good Librarian Like a Good Shepherd, Linebarrels of Iron) handling series composition, Reiko Nagasawa (Carole & Tuesday, Mob Psycho 100 II, Overlord III) adapting LAM’s original character designs for animation, and Yoshihiro Ike (Kuroko's Basketball, Rage of Bahamut: Genesis, Tiger & Bunny) composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is "Takt" sung by Mafumafu and Gaku, which was written, composed, and arranged by artist Ryo (supercell), and the ending theme song is "Symphonia" sung by Mika Nakashima. The anime will premiere in Japan on Oct. 5, 2021 on TV Tokyo and its affiliates and BS TV Tokyo. An advance screening of the first two episodes took place on Sep. 26 at Tokyo's Shinjuku Piccadilly theater and featured three members of the cast.
