Synopsis

The stage is London. Lupin’s target is a treasure hidden by The Raven, a shadowy organization that controls the British government. The clue to the treasure is a painting. But standing in his way are Scotland Yard, MI6, and Inspector Zenigata, who is hot on Lupin’s tail. However, perhaps worst of all for Lupin is that he’s caught the eye of a certain detective who happens to be none other than Sherlock Holmes!

Background

Lupin the Third began as a manga series written and illustrated by Monkey Punch that was first serialized in Weekly Manga Action magazine from August 1967 to May 1969. Since then, it has expanded to include several other manga, six TV anime adaptations, a handful of OVAs, and a slew of theatrical films , including the 1979 film The Castle of Cagliostro, the 1995 film Farewell to Nostradamus, and a 2014 live-action film. The franchise has been heavily influential to many top creators, including Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo director Shinichiro Watanabe, video game creator Hideo Kojima, and others.

Lupin the Third Part 6 is an upcoming TV anime series in the Lupin the Third franchise and the seventh TV anime adaptation of Monkey Punch’s original manga. It was announced by TMS Entertainment in May 2021 and is being created to celebrate the franchise’s 50th anniversary. The series is being animated by TMS Entertainment and features Eiji Suganuma as director, Takahiro Okura as series composer, Kanae Minato, Mamoru Oshii, Masaki Tsuji, and Taku Ashibe as scriptwriters, Hirotaka Marufuji as character designer, and Yuji Ohno as music composer. The anime’s main theme song is “Theme from Lupin III 2021” by Yuji Ohno & Lupintic Six with Friends. The anime will premiere in Japan on Oct. 9, 2021 on Nippon TV and other channels. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the anime for streaming, and the first two episodes of the English subbed anime along with the world premiere of the English dubbed first episode of Lupin the Third Part 1 will be screened in select U.S. theaters for a limited time from Oct. 22-28.

Characters

Lupin the Third (Voiced by: Kanichi Kurita)
A globetrotting master thief born into a family of talented thieves. He uses his unconventional ideas and fearless techniques to obtain any target.

Daisuke Jigen (Voiced by: Akio Ohtsuka)
A gifted gunslinger who can shoot in as quick as 0.3 seconds. Even Lupin is impressed with his skills. Even when in a scrap, he always coolly assesses the situation and is able to get out of any jam.

Goemon Ishikawa (Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa)
A descendant of the Ishikawa family, which produced a slew of talented thieves roughly 400 years ago. He is a master of cutting his foes down in one strike and expertly wields his Zantetsuken sword. He is a proud swordsman who walks a narrow road with a single-minded discipline in order to master the way of the sword.

Fujiko Mine (Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro)
A mysterious beauty with many faces. She has exceptional looks, excellent proportions, and a sharp mind that puts even Lupin in the palm of her hand.

Inspector Zenigata (Voiced by: Koichi Yamadera)
A full-time inspector with ICPO (Interpol) who is tasked with capturing Lupin. He is a descendant of the famous private detective from the Edo period. He has a burning obsession with capturing Lupin and is more knowledgeable about Lupin than anyone else.

Goro Yatagarasu (Voiced by: Nobunaga Shimazaki)
A detective and subordinate to Zenigata who works for ICPO. He is a hot-blooded young man with a burning sense of justice. He has a deep respect for Zenigata. His nickname is Yata.

Sherlock Holmes (Voiced by: Masato Obara)
The world’s greatest detective who can solve any case no matter how difficult. Nowadays, however, he has retired from that line of work and now works mainly on cases involving affairs and searching for lost pets. He lives at 221B Baker Street.

Lily (Voiced by: Sumire Morohoshi)
A cheerful and intelligent 14-year-old girl who lives together with Holmes at 221B. Wanting to be useful to Holmes, she often sticks her nose into his cases.

Albert d'Andrésy (Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda)
