Synopsis

Ange is a young man who has trouble fitting into his surroundings and feels a strong sense of isolation. When he finds himself completely alone and without any family, he leaves his hometown and heads for Harajuku, where the artist he admires is active, and there, he encounters a live battle between the rival visual kei groups Eclipse and Lost Eden. While being overwhelmed by their passionate stage performances, he is suddenly hit with severe pain...

Background

Visual Prison is an original TV anime series being produced by A-1 Pictures. It is being directed by Tomoya Tanaka with Takeshi Furuta overseeing production as chief director. Other staff members include Yukie Sugawara, who is handling series composition, Minako Shiba, who is adapting Ikumi Katagiri’s original character designs for animation, Jinshichi Yamaguchi, Hiroshi Yako, and Honoka Yokoyama, who are designing the sub-characters, and Elements Garden, who are composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is "Zankoku Shangri-la" by the in-anime band Oz, and the ending theme song is "Bloody Kiss" by the in-anime band Lost Eden. The anime will premiere in Japan on Oct. 8, 2021 on Tokyo MX, BS11, and other channels.

Characters

OZ

Ange Yuki (Voiced by: Shoya Chiba)
The protagonist, who is strong-willed but clumsy. Unable to fit in in his hometown, he comes to Tokyo to live in Harajuku. He has loved music since he was a child and admires songs by first generation Eclipse member Guil.

Guiltia Brion (Voiced by: Makoto Furukawa)
Also known as Guil, he was a member of the legendary group Eclipse, which brought a new style to music, but is currently living in hiding. He is cool and logical. He is often misunderstood by those around him due to his taciturn nature, but he is unaware of it. His favorite food is coffee.

Eve Louise (Voiced by: Hiroki Nanami)
A good friend and housemate of Guil. He has a kind-hearted, reserved, and gentle personality. He is good at taking care of people, but because he keeps his distance from the world, he is unfamiliar with the latest trends and can appear to be naive. He likes the coffee that Guil makes.

Robin Laffite (Voiced by: Shun Horie)
A renowned vocalist. When he was a kid, he was known for having the voice of an angel, and since then he has been active in the classical world. He is a free-spirited genius. He has an innocent personality and is easy to get along with, but he can also be possessive. He likes to stay up with the latest trends and loves sweets. He unconsciously goes through people’s pockets to get to the bottom of things.

Lost Eden

Saga Latour (Voiced by: Takuya Eguchi)
The main vocalist and leader of Lost Eden. Though he is quiet, his music is full of anger and passion. He is a charismatic figure who attracts many people. However, many vampires are afraid of his radical ideas. He has a deep feud with Guil.

Mist Flaive (Voiced by: Nobunaga Shimazaki)
Calm, cool, and clear-headed, he is fascinated by Saga and is dedicated to supporting him. He is a stoic hard worker who does everything with precision and efficiency. He can be condescending, but he is very caring to his friends.

Veuve Elizabeth (Voiced by: Takuma Nagatsuka)
Also known as Beth, he loves beautiful things and dressing up. He runs his own apparel brand and extends a hand to help all those in search of beauty. Being an erudite, he has a deep knowledge of magic and is relied upon by those around him.

Jack Mouton (Voiced by: Shogo Yano)
He loves to play pranks and has a devilish temperament that he never hides. He usually helps with Beth’s apparel brand and is the brand’s main model. His favorite things are sweets and games.

Eclipse

Dimitri Romanee (Voiced by: Toshiki Masuda)
A vocalist of the world-famous group Eclipse. He is a founding member of the group, and is currently working with Hyde. He is cheerful and positive. He is also a wild perfectionist and is always full of confidence.

Hyde Jayer (Voiced by: Shouta Aoi)
A vocalist of the world-famous group Eclipse. He is a founding member of the group, and is currently working with Dimitri. He has a graceful demeanor but shows a tongue-in-cheek side to Dimitri and his friends.

Other

Panya (Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita)
Though he looks like a panda, he’s actually a cat. He lives in Harajuku.
