Sacks&Guns!!

Synopsis

In the distant future, humanity lives in colonies underground. Outside the colonies lies a dangerous, untamed area called the Labyrinth, and those who explore it are called “Markers.” Memempu is a girl who wants to become a Marker, and Gagumber is her father and a former Marker. Together, the two embark on a journey into the unknown.

Background

Sakugan is an upcoming TV anime being produced by Satelight. It is an adaptation of the novel Sakugan Labyrinth Marker written by Nekotaro Inui, which was submitted in 2018 to Project Anima, a joint project between DeNA, Sotsu, and Bunka Housou for collecting stories submitted by the general public, and won second place in the "Science-Fiction/Robot" category. The anime is being directed by Junichi Wada with Mariko Mochizuki, Shingo Nagai, and Toshizo Nemoto penning the scripts, Shunpei Mochizuki adapting Yuji Iwahara’s original character designs for animation, Stanislas Brunet handling mechanical designs, and Tatsuya Kato composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is "Kоokotsu Labyrinth" by Masaaki Endoh, and the ending theme song is "Shine" by MindaRyn. The anime was originally scheduled to premiere in 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will now premiere in Japan on Oct. 7, 2021 on Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS11. It will be available to stream through Crunchyroll as it airs in Japan.

A manga adaptation written by Keisuke Sato began serialization on Square Enix’s Manga UP! website in August 2021.

A radio show titled Sakugan Radio Labyrinth premiered in March 2021 and is broadcast weekly on A&G+. It stars members of the voice cast including Kanon Amane (the voice of Memempu), Hiroki Touchi (the voice of Gagumber), and Toshiyuki Toyonaga (the voice of Yuri).

Zackletu (Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa)

DJ K (Voiced by: Hiroshi Kamiya)
The famous radio personality of the program “Good Morning/Evening K” that is broadcast throughout the underworld. The radio show is used as a valuable source of information on the other colonies, and many among the Markers are secret fans of the program.

Linda (Voiced by: Minami Tsuda)
A female Marker. Born in Pinyin, she is Memempu’s childhood friend and is in her teens. She is also a member of her father’s Walsh Gang and boards a Markbot to travel around the labyrinth.

Muro (Voiced by: Misaki Watada)
