Synopsis
Lloyd is a teenage boy and budding adventurer from the remote town of Kunlun, which is known for its extremely powerful heroes and which sits next to the world’s most dangerous dungeon. Considered a weakling in his town compared to everyone else, he is determined to get stronger in order to realize his dream of becoming a soldier and decides to leave his hometown to travel to the capital city of Azami, where he begins living with a haughty but clumsy witch named Marie. Much to his surprise, he quickly discovers that he’s not a weakling at all, and compared to everyone else in Azami he’s actually vastly overpowered!

Suppose a Kid From the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town is a comedic fantasy light novel series written by Toshio Sato and illustrated by Nao Watanuki that has been published by SB Creative under their GA Bunko label since February 2017. The series has also been adapted into two manga series. The first of which features artwork by Hajime Fusemachi and has been serialized on Square Enix’s Gangan Online website since September 2017, and the second of which is titled Tatoeba Last Dungeon Mae no Mura no Shonen ga Joban no Machi no Shokudo de Hataraku Nichijo Monogatari (Suppose a Kid From the Last Dungeon Boonies Worked Every Day in a Cafeteria in a Starter Town) with artwork by Souchuu and has been serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine since February 2020.
The anime adaptation was announced during a livestream of the "GA Fes 2019" event in October 2019. It is being produced by LIDEN FILMS and features migmi as director with Deko Akao handling series composition, Makoto Iino handling character designs, and MICHIRU handling the music. The opening theme song is "Tatoeba Sore wa Yuki no Maho" by Haruka Yamazaki, and the ending theme song is "I'mpossible?" by Luce Twinkle Wink☆. The anime was originally scheduled to air beginning in October 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It premiered on Jan. 4, 2021 on AT-X and other channels and is available to stream through Funimation (North America, British Isles, Mexico, and Brazil), Wakanim (Europe), and AnimeLab (Australia and New Zealand).
Characters
Lloyd Belladonna (Voiced by: Yumiri Hanamori)
Lloyd is a boy from the remote town of Konlon who travels to the capital city Azami to pursue his dream of becoming a soldier. Though he thinks he is weak, he is actually extremely overpowered compared to everyone in the capital. He is honest and good-natured but also naive which causes him trouble wherever he goes. He is good at cooking, laundry, and cleaning.
Marie (Voiced by: Ai Kayano)
Marie is a witch living in the capital city who sells potions in exchange for information. She is a student of Alka, who orders her to let Lloyd live with her. She is often troubled by Lloyd’s and Alka’s unusual behavior. She calls herself a witch but she is actually hiding her true identity.
Alka (Voiced by: Natsumi Hioka)
Alka is the village chief of Konlon. Though she looks like a young girl, she is actually hundreds of years old, though no one knows her true age. She is a troublemaker who wants to destroy the country for rather unimportant reasons, and she loves Lloyd as if he were her own son.
Selen Hemein (Voiced by: Madoka Asahina)
Selen is a young girl from a noble family. When she was a child, she put a cursed belt on her face and became known as the “Princess of the Cursed Belt.” After Lloyd removes the curse and frees her from the belt she begins thinking that he is her soulmate.
Riho Flavin (Voiced by: Minami Tsuda)
Riho is a one-armed female mercenary. She has a difficult personality and a love of money but her skills are solid. She is a good judge of character and notices Lloyd’s abilities at first glance. She plans to use his abilities to make money.
Phyllo Quinone (Voiced by: Miku Ito)
Phyllo is a martial artist and part of a mercenary duo with her sister Mena, and together they are regarded as remarkable mercenaries. She meets Lloyd while visiting the capital in search of Riho and volunteers to be his apprentice after witnessing his overwhelming power. She is quiet and expressionless, which makes it difficult to tell what she is thinking.
Mena Quinone (Voiced by: Haruka Tomatsu)
Mena is a witch and part of a mercenary duo with her sister Phyllo, and together they are regarded as remarkable mercenaries. She seems cheerful, always has a smile on her face, and is easy to talk to, but she is actually very calculating. Her speciality is water magic.
Allan Lidocaine (Voiced by: Seiichiro Yamashita)
Allan is the eldest son of the Lidocaine family, which is renowned for its military prowess, and a student at the military academy who has won many martial arts competitions. He is determined to climb the ranks of the military. He doesn’t get along with Selen.
Shoma (Voiced by: Soma Saito)
Shoma is a high-spirited young boy from Konlon. Lloyd looks up to him as if he were his own brother. He usually works as a courier while traveling and sometimes returns to the village to share information about the outside world and what is popular.
Merthophan (Voiced by: Satoshi Hino)
Merthophan is a colonel in the army and an instructor at the military academy. Despite looking young, he exudes a relaxed but authoritative air and is quick to notice Lloyd’s skills. He believes discipline is of the utmost importance.
Choline Sterase (Voiced by: M.A.O)
Choline is a colonel in the army and an instructor at the military academy. She is an expert in healing magic and is the most skilled magic user in the kingdom.
Chrome (Voiced by: Taketora)
Chrome is a former soldier who owns a cafeteria at the military academy for some reason. When Lloyd comes to his shop to interview for a job, he senses his strength at a glance and hires him in order to keep an eye on him. The food he serves is questionable.
