Synopsis
Taiju Oki is a 16-year-old high school student who has long been in love with Yuzuriha Ogawa. One day, he tells his friend, a science geek named Senku Ishigami, that he will finally confess his love to her. Just as he is about to do so, a mysterious bright light comes down from the sky and petrifies all of humanity to stone. While humans are still alive after being petrified, their consciousness gradually fades away. Thousands of years pass, and modern civilization decays.
Taiju, determined to some day save Yuzuriha, keeps his mind sharp while he is petrified. Eventually, he breaks free. He reunites with Senku, who has also escaped from his stone imprisonment. The two develop a cure for the stone petrification called nital and begin trying to rebuild civilization. They form the Kingdom of Science and begin bringing technology back to the stone world. But there is another faction who resists them, the Empire of Might, and it seems a war is brewing...
