Synopsis

Keyaru is a top-tier healing magician with the title of “Healer Hero,” but due to his lack of fighting abilities, his party sees him as nothing more than a tool. After being exploited again and again, and having lost everything, he becomes convinced that healing magic is the strongest type of magic in the world and decides to redo the last four years by using his magic to travel back in time. With all of his painful memories of what happened to him intact, he begins a quest for revenge against those who exploited him.

Background

Redo of Healer is a fantasy light novel series written by Rui Tsukiyo and illustrated by Shiokonbu that began serialization on the user-generated novel publishing website Shosetsuka ni Naro in December 2016. It was later acquired by Kadokawa Shoten and is published under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation written by Tsukiyo and illustrated by Soken Haga began in October 2017 and is published on Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace Up website.

An anime adaptation was announced by Kadokawa in November 2019. It is being animated by T.N.K. and features Takuya Asaoka as director with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu writing the script, Junji Goto designing the characters and serving as chief animation director along with Yoshiko Saito, and Fujisawa Kenshi, Akiya Suzuki, and Johannes Nilsson (Team-MAX) composing the music. The opening theme song is "Zankoku na Yume to Nemure" by Minami Kuribayashi, and the ending theme song is "Yume de Sekai wo Kaeru nara" by ARCANA PROJECT. The anime will premiere on Jan. 13, 2021 on Tokyo MX, AT-X, KBS Kyoto, and Sun TV. The anime will be broadcast in three different formats: a censored broadcast version for TV, a streaming-exclusive “Redo” version, and an uncensored “Complete Recovery” version.

Characters

Keyaru / Keyarga (Voiced by: Yuya Hozumi)
Keyaru is a healer known as the “Healer Hero.” He is kind-hearted and fights with other heroes to save the world from the Demon King. Though a capable healer, he is hesitant to use his skills because it requires him to feel the pain and fear that his target has experienced. After taking his revenge on Flare, he changes his name to Keyarga and makes it his mission to get revenge on the heroes who oppressed him.

Flare / Freya (Voiced by: Ayano Shibuya)
Flare is the first princess of the kingdom of Gioral and a skilled sorceress. Her charisma and beauty make her popular with the people, but in reality she is a sadist who looks down on everything and everyone. After Keyaru gets revenge on her, she is transformed into Freya and stripped of her memories. As Freya, she is convinced that she and Keyarga are in love and she tries her best to serve and obey him.

Setsuna (Voiced by: Shizuka Ishigami)
Setsuna is a girl from the Ice Wolf tribe who was sold into slavery in the free city of Lanaritta. She vows revenge on the humans who attacked her hometown and killed her friends. She asks Keyarga to raise her fighting ability so that she can become even stronger.

Eve (Voiced by: Natsumi Takamori)
Eve is a demon girl from the Black Wing tribe who has crimson red eyes and black wings. She looks very similar to the Demon King Keyaru met in the past except she has different colored hair.

Norn (Voiced by: Minami Tsuda)
Norn is the second princess to the kingdom of Gioral and Flare’s younger sister. She is a genius military strategist and a master in the art of conspiracy. However, she is also reckless in that she is willing to make any sacrifice to achieve her goal. She has a sadistic and ruthless personality that rivals even that of her older sister.

Kureha (Voiced by: Natsuki Aikawa)
Kureha is the strongest swordsman in the kingdom of Gioral and is known as the “Sword Saint.” She has a strong sense of humor but can be too serious sometimes due to her diligent study to become the best, and she has a tendency to make assumptions.

Bullet (Voiced by: Tetsu Inada)
Bullet is a large man with a shaved head and muscular body who shoots magic bullets with precise accuracy from his gun, Taslam.

Blade (Voiced by: Mami Fujita)
Blade is a brave swordsman with a flamboyant sense of style who dresses like a man in order to make it easier for her to seduce women. Her holy sword Ragnarok can cut through anything with ease. She has feelings for Flare.

Anna (Voiced by: Asuka Nishi)
Anna was Keyaru’s foster parent in the village where he grew up. When the village was attacked by the Gioral Kingdom, she was driven to commit suicide.
