Synopsis

On a journey to save Azalie, a girl he admired like a sister, Orphan and friends journey to Kimluck, the holy city of the Kimluck religion whose doctrine is to eradicate mages. While Orphan is determined to settle the score with Azalie, Azalie is determined to follow in the footsteps of her teacher, Childman, and heads for Kimluck in search of the world’s secrets. However, a fierce battle with the Teachers of Death awaits them. What hidden secrets will be revealed in Kimluck? Mysterious abound and battles are in full swing in this second chapter of the epic story!

Background

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen is a light novel series written by Yoshinobu Akita that includes Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: The Wayward Journey, which ran from May 1994 to September 2003 in Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Magazine, Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: The Reckless Journey, which ran from February 1996 to October 2003 in Dragon Magazine, and Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Detour, which was published by Kadokawa Shoten under their Kadokawa Mini Bunko imprint from November 1997 to September 1998. The series has also been adapted into a manga with art by Hajime Sawada which is split into two parts: the six-volume-long Sorcerous Stabber Orphen Haguretabi and the two-volume side-story Sorcerous Stabber Orphen MAX. The series has also received a remake with new versions of the light novel and manga released.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Battle of Kimluck is the second season of the anime adaptation remake. It is once again being produced by Studio DEEN and features Takayuki Hamana as director with Reiko Yoshida handling series composition, Rio and Yoko Kikuchi handling character designs, and Shinnosuke composing the music. The opening theme song is "LIGHT of JUSTICE" by Showtaro Morikubo, and the ending theme song is "Marionette Coup d'État" by Mai Fuchigami. The anime premiered on Jan. 20, 2021 on Tokyo MX, AT-X, and other channels. It is available to stream online through Funimation (North America, the British Isles), Wakanim (Europe), and AnimeLab (Australia, New Zealand).

Characters

Orphen (Voiced by: Showtaro Morikubo)
A dark-haired, dark-eyed young man who dresses in all black. His trademarks are the red bandanna on his forehead and the dragon emblem on his chest. He runs a money lending business in Ttokanta City. He has an arrogant and gruff demeanor, but he used to be an exceptional mage in the Tower of Fang and a stalwart assassin who inherited his skills from his master, Childman. His real name is Krylancelo Finrandi.

Claiomh Everlasting (Voiced by: Rumi Okubo)
The second daughter of the prestigious Everlasting family of Totokanta City. She has curly blonde hair and blue eyes. Though an ojou-sama she goes to a public school. She has never left Totokanta City and longs for the outside world, leading her and Majic to forcefully accompany Orphan on his journey.

Majic Lin (Voiced by: Yusuke Kobayashi)
The only son of the innkeeper who runs Bagup’s Inn in Totokanta City. He is a good-looking boy with blonde hair, green eyes, and a medieval look. He wants to become a sorcerer and volunteers to accompany Orphan on his journey.

Leki (Voiced by: Konami Yoshida)
A cub of the Deep Dragon race that is found in the Fenrir Forest and taken in by Claiomh, who names him Leki. He uses powerful magic under Claiomh’s orders.

Vulcano Volkan (Voiced by: Marie Mizuno)
A dwarf who calls himself "Masmaturian Bulldog." He has a cowardly personality but always talks big. He is accompanying Orphan and the others.

Dortin (Voiced by: Mai Fuchigami)
A dwarf and Vulcano’s younger brother. He is exiled from his home together with Vulcano. He wears large round glasses. He is knowledgeable and mild-mannered. Vulcano always pushes him around.

Childman Powderfield (Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa)
A teacher belonging to the Tower of Fang who is said to be the strongest mage on the continent. His origins and purpose are unknown. He was unconscious for a long time due to an accident five years ago. After he awakes, he begins working with the mages at the Tower of Fang to defeat Azalie.

Azalie Cait Sith (Voiced by: Yoko Hikasa)
Orphan’s sister-in-law and Leticia’s cousin. She has curly black hair and brown eyes. She is whimsical, selfish, and hates to lose. She has the rare ability of being able to use both black and white magic. Five years ago while a student at the Tower of Fang, she failed in an experiment to activate Sword of Baldanders and transformed into a strange form before disappearing.

Leticia McLady (Voiced by: Shizuka Ito)
Orphan’s sister-in-law and Azalie’s cousin. She has black hair and dark eyes. She runs a private school for magic. She is nervous and fastidious, and she’s prone to fits of hysteria and often fights with Azalie.

Heartia Allenford (Voiced by: Taito Ban)
A librarian at the Totokanta branch of the Continental Mages Alliance. He has red hair and freckles. He has a light-hearted personality and a tendency to fall in love easily with women. He used to be a student of Childman at the Tower of Fang and was Orphan’s best friend and rival.

Comicron (Voiced by: Rikuya Yasuda)
A mage belonging to the Tower of Fang who participates in defeating Azalie. He used to be a student of Childman at the Tower of Fang.

Forte Puckingham (Voiced by: Tomoaki Maeno)
An assistant teacher at the Tower of Fang. He is quiet, calm, and collected, and he excels in all areas of magic. He inherited from his teacher Childman the technology to operate the Childman Network. He used to be a student of Childman at the Tower of Fang and was the top student of his class.

Uoar Curlaine (Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda)
An old teacher at the Tower of Fang who specializes in training Stabbers. He plans to take control of the Tower of Fang.

Hydrant (Voiced by: Hiroyuki Yoshino)
A student of Uoar at the Tower of Fang who wears a mask to hide half his face.

Swaine (Voiced by: Nobuhiko Okamoto)
A student at the Tower of Fang and a top-level Stabber.

Salua (Voiced by: Yoshiyuki Shimozuma)
MacDougall’s assistant. He knows a lot about mages, including Orphan’s true identity.

Mädchen Amick (Voiced by: Akari Kito)
A young female swordswoman who accompanies a group of thieves to the Camisunda Theater. She always wears a bandanna on her head.

Quo (Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita)
Leader of the Kimluck Church’s Teachers of Death and the strongest assassin in Kimluck. He is muscular and tall.

Carlotta (Voiced by: Maaya Sakamoto)
One of the Kimluck Church’s Teachers of Death and Quo’s second in command. She is a cunning blonde beauty. She loves the color red.

Pope Ramonirok (Voiced by: Atsushi Miyauchi)
The head of the Kimluck Church. It is believed that the name Ramonirok, the founder of the Kimluck religion two hundred years ago, has been passed down through generations of popes. But in reality they have all been the same person. Fearful of being found out, he secludes himself inside the small cathedral of the Temple of Yggdrasil. He doesn’t let anyone near him except his caretaker, who has had both of their eyes removed.

Anastasia (Voiced by: Emi Hirayama)
A young girl who is Ramonirok’s caretaker. She was blinded so that she cannot see Ramonirok.

Lapointe (Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi)
The head teacher of the Kimluck Church and Salua’s brother. He is loyal to his duties.

Name (Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu)
A middle-aged man with a shaved head who lives in the outer ring of Kimluck City. He hides Orphan and his friends in his house after they cause trouble in the city.

Sister Istersiva (Voiced by: Kikuko Inoue)
A member of a race of celestial beings. She decided to create offspring with humans in order to prevent her race from going extinct due to war with the gods, which resulted in a race of humans with magical abilities, but the race eventually died out.
