About Emma

Emma is the main character of the series and pulls the trio, Norma and Ray, together. The story follows Emma, Ray, and Norman trying to escape the farm and reach a new world where they can live freely.

About Emma: Background

Emma is a deeply caring, loud, and optimistic girl. She is highly extroverted and physically able compared to Norman and Ray. However, she also has strong ideals that often sway the trio's decisions. Her loving and carefree nature makes her the sister of the house, and all the children adore Emma and Emma returns the adoration.

After witnessing the true horrors at the gates, Emma swears never to cry and never lose one of her family members again. Initially, she refuses to leave any of her siblings behind. However, after much deliberation, she realizes the best plan is to leave the young children behind and rescue them when they are older.

While Emma consistently receives perfect scores on her test, she is also silly and a bit of an air-head. Her air-head and idealistic ways often clash with Ray, and the two often bicker. However, she also uses her silly and cheerful nature to hide her feelings and pain. For example, when she cuts off her ear, she never shows the pain she is under. Like Ray and Norman, Emma is also willing to take drastic measures and sacrifice herself to protect those she loves. However, her intense passion for protecting others also leads to her irrationality and rash actions. As the story progresses, it also amplifies her fear of making the wrong decision and doubts herself as the leader. Despite being told to rely on others, Emma has a hard time doing so and will often bottle it up and is willing to bear all of the burdens alone.

About Emma: Abilities

Although she is not as intellectually capable as Norman and Ray, she is still considered one of the three geniuses at Grace Field. She receives full marks on nearly all tests and has no trouble memorizing knowledge.

However, her relaxed way of thinking allows her to be perceptive and comprehend and understand things quickly. As a result, she understood the world in the Seven Walls, which Ray could not do.

One of Emma's strengths is her physical capabilities. She has impressive reflexes and has the highest energy in the house. Combined with her intellect, she is always the last one to be found in games of tag. It also allows her to pick up survival skills with ease and can fight and hunt with ease. She also has enhanced stamina and could even follow Mister for hours on end without slowing down or losing sight of him.

Other Important The Promised Neverland Characters

In particular, Emma, Norman, and Ray have a solid close bond and confide in each other often.

Norman

Emma and Norman are best friends. Due to growing up together, they are very close to each other and care deeply for each other. They are always willing to sacrifice themselves if it's to protect others. Emma is selfless and has strong ideals. She is always open to what Norman has to say and takes in his opinions. This is especially notable when she decides to leave half of the children and instead come back for them when they are older. Norman has a strong desire to support Emma as he sees her as selfless and that he must use his intellect to help her and bring Emma's ideals to life. Emma often looks to Norman for guidance, and with him gone, she falls into a pit of despair.

Ray

After growing up together, Ray and Emma have a strong relationship. They have contrasting opinions, with Emma being highly extroverted while Ray is more introverted. Despite their differences, they care deeply for each other and constantly look out for each other. Their trust is seen when Emma includes Ray in their escape plan and relies on him to gather the necessary intel and equipment. However, the two will often buttheads on their differing views as Ray has a very realistic perception. At the same time, Emma is optimistic, causing Ray to call Emma an air-head and childish for holding onto such ideals.
