No Game No Life is a light novel written by Yuu Kamiya. It is a very popular series and was adapted into an anime that was first released on the 9th of April 2014. The series tells the story of two pro-gamers with the title Blank, as they always leave the name empty. They are bored with normal life and are transported into another world. The different world has a commandment where all fights must be solved by a game and no acts of violence are allowed. It is a very popular series with merchandise being released such as No Game No Life and Nendoroids. One of the protagonists, Sora, is a very popular character. His calm and all-knowing attitude while he plays the games brings him many fans. There have been all sorts of products made in his design such as the “Nendoroid No Game No Life Sora”.

About Sora

Sora is one of the main protagonists in the series and is the older step-sibling to Shiro. Together the two form the strongest and unbeatable team known as Blank.

About Sora: Background

As a young child, Sora focused on pleasing the people around him. He had the perfect smile that didn’t betray the emptiness he felt inside. Sora was extremely good at reading the mood and knew the right words to say. Since he was so focused on others he became empty. Sora didn’t realize it until he met his step-sister Shiro. Sora’s father remarried Shiro’s mother making them step-siblings. When the two first met when they were young, Shiro commented “how empty” , making a dig at his name which can mean “sky and empty” as he laughed when others laughed.

Sora was at first shocked but then grew very interested in his new step-sibling and invited her to play games. The two became very close and ended up living together without their parents. It was implied that their parents abandoned them, however, the two didn’t care and only grew closer. They lived a life of a NEET and continuously played online games. The two then formed the unbeatable team “blank” and became known as an urban legend online. Their long streak of victories caught the attention of Tet, a God in another world.

Tet challenged them to a game of chess with the siblings winning. He was a God who had never lost a game before and was interested in the siblings who were also well-known for having never lost a game. Excited at the thought of meeting a worthy opponent as well as frustrated by losing Tet then summoned them to the world he belonged to. Disboard, where everything is decided by games. The world Disboard is governed by the Ten Covenants, where no acts of violence are allowed and instead conflicts must be solved through games.

About Sora: Abilities

Sora is an extremely talented person. He can learn and decipher a new language when he is suddenly transported into a different world. Although he is not a genius like his younger sister Shiro who can calculate difficult equations in her head, Sora is also a genius in his own right. Even though he is a NEET and only interacts with his sister in real life he is very charismatic and knows how to move people. He can read the expressions of others very well and is capable of bluffing and calling out bluffs with extreme accuracy.

Other Important No Game No Life Characters

Sora is a very important character in the series. Together with Shiro they challenge the other races and unite the world. If they unite or take over the other races then they are given the chance to be able to challenge the One True God, Tet.

Shiro

Shiro is the younger sister of Sora and is one of the main protagonists. She is a genius and can easily solve difficult calculations in her head. Shiro can simply calculate the trajectory of attacks with ease and formulate plans for attacking without having to move vigorously.

Jibril

Jibril is the first ally they gain. She was very powerful when the Disboard world was allowed to fight. Her race enjoys cutting off the heads of their enemies and knowledge. When she is approached by Sora and Shiro her interest is immediately piqued as it is something unknown to her. After she loses to Blank, she swears her loyalty to them and accepts them as her new master.
