Automata 9S (YoRHa No. 9 Type S) NieR:Automata - Nendoroid
PlatinumGames is a video game company that is widely known for creating games with fluid and complex battle systems like Bayonetta and Astral Chain. Out of their numerous releases, one of their most popular is NieR: Automata, which was also directed by renowned creator Yoko Taro. Shortly after the release of NieR: Automata, it quickly became known for its interesting and appealing characters, branching storyline, and intricate battle system. Due to the success of the game, a large variety of merchandise based on its many characters was designed and released by manufacturers. One particularly notable manufacturer of merchandise includes Good Smile Company, which is known for creating small, chibi-style figures of characters from many different franchises with their Nendoroid line. As a main character of NieR: Automata, YoRHa No. 9 Type S (9S) was one of the characters who received a Nendoroid figure with the release of the "Nendoroid NieR: Automata 9S (YoRHa No.9 Type S)".
Nendoroid NieR: Automata 9S (YoRHa No.9 Type S)
This figure of 9S takes his original design and gives him the chibi-style twist that Nendoroid figures are known for. It also has him wearing his original outfit, which consists of a black jacket, a pair of black shorts, a green pouch that is strapped across his chest, and a pair of black boots fitted with several belts and buckles. Like many other Nendoroid figures, this set also includes a variety of different accessories and interchangeable parts to allow a wide variety of possible poses and customization. Such extra parts include several pairs of arms and legs, a second face plate with a more serious expression, his Cruel Oath sword, several attack parts, his Pod 153, and a tiny replica of the Small Stubby enemy.

YoRHa No.9 Type S, also known as 9S, is a Scanner-type YoRHa Android and one of the main characters of NieR: Automata. He is often seen fighting alongside 2B.
About YoRHa No.9 Type S (9S): Background
As a Scanner-type Android, 9S is generally sent into battle alone as a scout to gather intelligence on the enemy Machines. That said, unlike other Androids like 2B, 9S is quite expressive, playful, and humorous, even though YoRHa has forbidden Androids from expressing emotions. This expressive aspect of his personality is also shown through 9S's casual way of speaking, particularly to his superiors like Operator 210. His nature as a Scanner-type Android also makes him insatiably curious about his surroundings, particularly when it comes to the Machines.
About YoRHa No.9 Type S (9S): Abilities
Although 9S is a Scanner-type Android, he does possess some basic combat features. He can wield weapons, as well as dodge and counter enemy attacks, though he is not quite as effective at close-quarter combat as others like 2B. 9S's primary abilities lie in his investigative abilities and hacking skills, which he can use against enemies and allow 9S to control them remotely, make them self-destruct, or turn against their fellow allies. 9S can remotely control a hacked Machine to subsequently hack into a separate target as well, allowing him to stealthily take over more powerful targets. 9S also has his Pod 153, which lets him fire projectiles at distant targets. Like other YoRHa Androids, 9S can also self-destruct, causing massive damage to both himself and any nearby enemies.

Among the many different characters within NieR: Automata, two of the most important characters aside from 9S include 2B and A2.
YoRHa No.2 Type B (2B)
2B (YoRHa No.2 Type B), also known as 2B, is another Android-like 9S that was designed specifically for close-quarter combat. She is generally known for being cold, calculating, and obedient to her superiors, though 2B is shown to care deeply for her allies like her Pod 042 and Operator 60. Although 2B only started working with 9S because she was ordered to, the two eventually form a positive relationship with each other, which causes 2B's expressionless personality to soften a bit. Her weapon of choice is her sword known as Virtuous Contract, though she can wield other weapons like spears and gauntlets as well.
YoRHa Type A No.2 (A2)
A2 is an Attacker-type Android and was one of the first prototypes that was sent to fight for YoRHa in the 14th Machine War. As a prototype, the data collected through her battles would be used to produce improved models like 2B and 9S. When 2B and 9S encounter A2, Pod 153 tells the two that YoRHa considers A2 to be a rogue Android and is targeted for destruction. From A2's perspective, however, she was the one who was betrayed after she was left alone following the death of the rest of her squad. Her inherent hatred toward Machines and her newfound animosity toward YoRHa left her aggressive, bitter, and reckless, causing her to put herself in harm's way as long as it gets her closer to her own goals. That said, she is by no means heartless, as she seems to not mind letting Pascal live despite him being a Machine.
