Synopsis

Taiju Oki is a 16-year-old high school student who has long been in love with Yuzuriha Ogawa. One day, he tells his friend, a science geek named Senku Ishigami, that he will finally confess his love to her. Just as he is about to do so, a mysterious bright light comes down from the sky and petrifies all of humanity to stone. While humans are still alive after being petrified, their consciousness gradually fades away. Thousands of years pass, and modern civilization decays.

Taiju, determined to some day save Yuzuriha, keeps his mind sharp while he is petrified. Eventually, he breaks free. He reunites with Senku, who has also escaped from his stone imprisonment. The two develop a cure for the stone petrification called nital. As they are about to use it on Yuzuriha they are attacked by wildlife that has grown rampant over the years. In order to defeat the creatures, they use the nital to free a formidable classmate named Tsukasa Shishio. Tsukasa was known in school as “The Strongest Primate High Schooler." While Tsukasa does use his abilities to defeat the creatures, he also destroys petrified adults because of something traumatic that happened in his past. He vows to kill the stoned adults and maintain the earth’s prehistoric nature. This creates a conflict between revived clans - Senku’s Kingdom of Science vs. Tsukasa’s Kingdom of Might.
